This is a pitch perfect pastiche of magazine writing and it does form a nice coda to one of the most beautifully bittersweet articles on the site. I am a little confused by the link to the SCP article in the email though, shouldn't that attachment be this magazine article?

An attempt at versimilitude by having the attachment actually being something, combined with shoe-horning in a link to the original article. I get the confusion, though. I might mess with that later today.

This was like an unexpected birthday present - a follow-up to one of my all-time favourite SCP articles. I liked this on first read, but it benefited from a second. There is a hushed, anticipatory feeling to it which is delightful - complementary to the magical realism of the SCP, but using the magazine style to give it a distinct identity. The atmosphere it generates feels brilliantly tangible - a real moment between people, arising from the unreal.
