This is a slice of life Deer College tale written in the Xmas exchange for ch00bakka. It is sadly based on real events.
This was immersive, very atmospheric, and I absolutely hate Dante.
I really was something else, wasn’t I?
I feel like Dante and Beatrice would be significantly less confused about their relationship if either of them had ever encountered the concept of being bisexual. Dante identifies as gay, and I don't think he's lying to himself, or anyone, about being attracted to men, but he's also clearly attracted to Beatrice. So he's bisexual, or pansexual, or something but it bothers me that no one in the story, including the other queer character is ever like "so… he's bi right?". This is clearly not the main issue in their relationship, but it's talked about like it's some sort of crazy thing that a man whose attracted to men is dating a woman. And poor Dante! He's beating himself up about being a "bad gay" or "horrible at being gay" or however he put it. Like.. yall got magic-Twitter, I know you can do a magic-Google search and figure this out.
But, hell, I was plenty confused about my whole gender/sexuality situation once upon a time. Hopefully someone comes along and shows them the way.
How is it that you can make me feel the drugs? It's like some Hunter S. Thompson magic.
The drug-induced visuals and dialogue really hit the spot for me (LOL).
I really did feel how real some of the events were, much of it sounded natural in a way that I felt that the author would experience it.
Pacing-wise, the back half felt a little fast compared to the first. The biggest example of this is the final section, actually. I think it would only need a couple more sentences to set up the visuals and ideas before launching into it.
Still, +1
