The twist certainly is ironic, but unfortunately, thinking about people pronouncing safe "saff-ay" made me roll my eyes instead of chuckle. Furthermore, the note at the end would be borderline strained if played straight, and is entirely strained with the subversion.
Also, is the implication that the 97% figure already got to them, or that the universe simply had different pronunciations from the get-go? Either way, neither gives me much fridge humor.
Obligatory "would this be better as a mainlist or a -j?": Eh. Depends. You may be able to rework it into either, though perhaps mainlist would be better suited for a rework; definitely fits a kinda-mundane small-scale niche. As-is, though, I feel it sates neither.
You are high if you think you're making me pronounce these object classes this way.
Even so, this was quite funny, so you get an upvote.
