I read this a few days ago; been thinking a lot about it. Definitely late to the party but meh. I just felt like I needed to comment. Part of me thinks that this is a dumb reason to actually join the SCP wikidot, but regardless, here I am.
This page, an essay under +50, is, I shit you not, the first and only piece of writing (in memory at least) that I was not able to fully get through on the first read because of how it affected me. I'm almost embarassed to admit that. I have read a number of emotionally striking pieces, including ones on this site, and many have certainly stuck with me, but none have forced me to stop partway through in the same way that this one did. You would think this is because of relatability, but I would be lying if I said that any of this is similar to my experiences (barring more general/surface-level ideas). Honestly, I don't really understand why it made me feel the way it did, and maybe I never will, and yet it did. I feel as if there's something deep inside that hurts a lot.
Regardless, thank you for writing this. It is an amazing piece of writing, wonderfully articulated in ways I couldn't even begin to try. You are a fantastic writer, whether or not you realize it. I'm sure you've heard this from a lot of people over the years, but I don't believe it can be said enough. I wish you well.
