There's quite a lot that I like about this SCP - Sophie is quite a well-drawn character, the anomaly is cute, and the interview shows a friendlier side to the Foundation (which I can get behind).
But I can't bring myself to upvote, for a collection of reasons:
- the function of the CSS isn't clarified, and to the extent that I can infer, it's just another type of Scranton Reality Anchor. As such, the new type of item is unnecessary - I wouldn't have had a problem with just using an SRA. Also, how is Sarah reacting to the fact that Niles can't get her things any more?
- referring to this particular type of anomaly as a "rare variation" of a class of reality manipulation suggests that (a) all reality benders present in similar ways (or in a range of classifiable ways); and (b) the Foundation has studied so many reality benders that it knows that this is rare in that context. Both of those things suggest too large a population of reality benders for my suspension of disbelief.
- how is this 9 year old a sufficiently capable engineer to design and build something that can travel at 700kph without death, injury or destruction? Is this anomalous? Is the Foundation interested?
- I think you're implying that Sarah's mother is dead, but how has her father (implied to be living: "Dad says…") reacted to the fact that his child has been kidnapped?
- The interview gives a bit of character, but doesn't reveal anything particularly new, meaning that the story doesn't have much of an ending. I would be tempted to suggest that the Foundation had *permanently* substituted the toy, if only for the ironic frisson that might generate.
