SCP-5733: Knife. Scream. Cut to Black II

Y'all honestly don't know how stressed I've been wondering if this slot would stay available!

Exactly 365 days since I posted SCP-5733, my first article after a 2 year hiatus, the Slasher is back. Who doesn't love a good horror movie sequel?

Big thank you to those who read this and/or provided critique before it was posted. There's a fair few of you as I wanted this to be a fitting successor to 5733: Captain Kirby, Pedagon, JackalRelated, Lamentte, AnActualCrow, Rounderhouse, FabledTiefling does not match any existing user name, Elenee FishTruck, T Rutherford, and GremlinGroup.

If you like creepy, anomalous media I'd highly recommend SCP-6890.

Everyone knows the sequel sucks more than the original. Even though they got a bigger budget this time around, they put so much of that budget into the special effects that they forgot they had to tell a story. All the victims are complete idiots, and it feels like a far cry from the original movie antagonist.

was already a fan of scp-5733 and i loved that this scp was continued in the best way possible. i loved the twist at the end by i also loved the buildup to it and how it was right under our noses throughout. im not usually a big fan of long reads but this very much worth my time give how you wrote it made me stay and finished like with jaime's interactions with Dr. Baine. i also like the box art of the movie, its an improvement from 5733's box art. great job man

I'm quite sad I didn't get this because the original SCP-5733 is one of my favorite articles, but I just don't understand the twist of this.

Is it just that the entire thing is a transcription of a movie? I get that everything in the two addendums is just the description of a movie but I don't really see what's anomalous about 6733 then. Am I missing some other larger part of the twist?

I think the anomaly is that the whole site becomes a movie set with the researchers and guards turning into unwilling actors. Basically they are mind controlled by Jaime (D-1888) who was able to manipulate the reality around him after he watched the movie. Jamie became a limited reality warper who controlled the site staff for a while without even knowing that. He also created Malcolm Baines and his D-1974 movie character persona. This is how I understand the anomaly.

Muse has some interesting ideas above. I’ve left some of my own below, hopefully this elucidates things…

So we have two versions of what’s on SCP-6733: we have a version which is transcribed via the addenda (D-1974 vs Slasher) and then we have the version described by D-1974, generic teens vs Slasher. Judging by the covert art, which would you expect is the intended / original footage on the tape? I feel a horror movie being shot at a Foundation site is slightly anomalous. It’s stated Baines never worked for the Foundation - there’s no mention of if this is the case for D-1974:

testing may have occurred more times than currently thought

Of note is that the original protagonist:

says…she's seen video evidence of [a suburb Slasher] attack.

The Slasher comes after her. D-1974 watches this. The Slasher comes after him. D-1888 watches this…

D-1888 has been placed into protective custody and is to be afforded maximum security.

And one final point, yes it’s the transcription of a movie but:

Dr. Baines: Everything's real in a sense.

What an incredible follow up, I genuinely didn’t think there could be an article like this, let alone two… but you really pulled it off. The real horror here is the steadily encroaching surreal aspects

One thing I think the original SCP-5733 was lacking, is the classic kills of any horror movies since most of the kills were "Cut to black" before actually happening (But I of course enjoyed the article anyway).
Let's say that this one didn't disappointed me! Each kills were interesting and original, each more gore than the last. That is exactly what I expect from slasher movies, and the last addendum was all about that. I really felt like watching a Halloween or a Nightmare On Elm Street, a well-deserved +1.
