This is a good article, and is always nice to see something from the Academia Medicea
A good follow-up to 'fights;' quite enjoyed reading this one!
Noting the coat of arms is derived from that of a depiction of the Medici Popes, by alekjds under public domain.
Huh.
Actually, that coat of arms has nothing to do with Medicea Accademia's Format on -IT, which is this one: MADAO coat. It would be cool if -EN adopts this one too, for continuity purposes.
(If I'm not mistaken, the sculpture depicts two people hugging, not a woman with a tumour. The GOI Format makes more sense if it's described as the former.)
With that aside, I unfortunately have to give this a downvote. I was disappointed seeing the piece end on a variation of the artist asking, "Are We Cool Yet?" Given just how many AWCY? articles (read: Many) end with this same cliché, it makes this kiiiiind of resolve as a nothingburger, given the dearth of meaning that phrase now holds.
That said, I read this in the order the Canon prescribes, and not the order you intend, so I apologize; it's likely I'm missing something. Once I read what was meant to be the prequel, I'll circle back and see where my thoughts lie. But I'm not too sure.
ETA:
So, I ended up reading the prequel — Fights — and it almost completely re-contextualized the piece, although I do still have some reservations. I didn't get the sense that Preston had known Luna for years; Fights seems to imply they've been familiar with one another for months, at most. It's possible, though, that I've misinterpreted that. It could be that Preston and Luna have known each other for years, and were possibly close (which is when he sent "La Foi de La Paix"), but that she eventually elevated to greater things and became The Curator whereas he was still struggling to get on his feet, anartistically speaking.
It could also be that in Fights, she said his anart "certainly isn't cool" as a back-handed insult, not as a straightforward reference to AWCY?
If this is the case, my initial reason for downvoting is no longer valid. Switched to a novote.
You put a lot more thought into this than I recognized at first glance. Even if I ultimately didn't feel struck by it, it's not a bad work. Good job!
