First off, thank you to MomBun and bigslothonmyface for their priceless feedback on this article. It fundamentally shaped how I went about finalizing it, and it would not be what it is without them.

This article is extremely personal to me. I have dear family members that suffer from dementia and Alzheimer's, and I've seen firsthand what those diseases do to someone. Some interactions here are directly inspired by my family members. I wanted to combine that idea of a seemingly immortal being faced with degenerative mental disease, and frankly how sad such a thing is. I'm proud of this work, and I hope you enjoy it.

Continua. Yeah, esoteric class. Basic idea here is that the anomaly has fundamentally changed and they're writing new containment procedures- I think that meets Continua's definition.

About the ending- SCP-6103 is a metaphoric star person going through the last stages of star life. When a star dies, new stellar material is formed. In death, there's life. She will live on- just as a new being.

This is the kind of thing I'm intentionally leaving up to the reader. I have an answer as the author, but I think it's better if the reader decides the interpretation there.

Loved the mythological aspects and the 'star person.' It was very mystical. Is Cassie a reference to Cassandra from Greek myth? The priestess of apollo? Maybe only in name, since this seems mostly inspired by Japanese mythology.

Also, it seems brave to write something so personal for the wiki, so props on that.

Cassie is derived from Cassiopeia, the constellation. As for the Japanese part, that was mostly me just trying to imply that she'd seen quite a bit of the world before winding up in Foundation custody, nothing more than that.

I will say the Cassandra from Greek Myth having an Apollo connection is quite the coincidence!

Apologies for the necro: Cassiopeia is also from Greek mythology. She's the mother of Andromeda, the woman Perseus saved from the sea monster. (And the one whose bragging ticked off the sea nymphs in the first place.)

According to Greek stellar myth, Cassiopeia was hung in the sky upon her death, in her throne but upside down. Greek gods are vindictive. (Still don't know how the Greeks got all that from a group of stars that look like a tilted and distorted W.)

No issues with the necro! I do have a confession- I actually only ever chose Cassiopeia because I had been listening to "Paciencia y Fe" from In the Heights while writing, and the song mentions that constellation :P Nothing particularly deep there haha. These connections you all as readers are drawing are fantastic and I love seeing them!

This is so delightful! I just adore space and any topics revolving around it, but with that and a mix of serenity that becomes more sorrowful over time altogether? It really made an amazing story

Awww. sniffles This was so sweet.

I felt the pacing of the interviews was a bit choppy -but then, that's what humans (and other sentient beings) do. Heck, in UX Design we're working on survey techniques, including interviews, and that kind of pacing is one thing they mention can happen in open-ended interviews -and most of the ones in the article were open-ended, or semi-structured at best. So kudos for realism.

Normally I aim for a stronger sense of structure in interview or recorded logs, but the nature of this anomaly and the primary focus of the narrative (a multigenerational interpersonal relationship) led me to aiming for a more natural dialogue flow. There's a choppiness to it, but that's definitely intentional. That's normally how casual conversations go anyway, yeah?

This is such an emotional and touching story. The lapse of awareness before the end was a very realistic detail, too. Brought me to tears.

A brilliant and sweet story. Not to long and not to short.
And I love how there was a somewhat happy ending, seeing her new stage was great, gave me a little bit more hope in the world.
