This is a repeat of a previous proposal, SCP Slot and Page Reservations, that was posted in 2018 but seemingly never reached a conclusion.
For context, in the past we have been open to reserving SCP slots ahead of time if an article genuinely requires that number to function (with the caveat that this was never codified anywhere). This was the case for SCP-2212; however, there has been at least one other reservation that did not meet this criteria, which was for a now-deleted article previously occupying the SCP-4911 slot. I do not personally know of any other reservations.
Unlike the above proposal, but much like some of the consensus in its thread, I would like to outright propose no longer reserving individual SCP slots.
The current informal reserved slots 'policy' isn't documented anywhere, if this proposal passes there's nothing to update; however, I would informally codify it in How to Write an SCP:
You cannot reserve an SCP slot ahead of time, so gGo to the relevant Series page linked in the top menu and pick an open number from the page. This will read [ACCESS DENIED].
