Funny, but what really secured me was the the ritual part. In my mind, the vast majority of SCPs are accidents caused by some unknown ritual going wrong. Here we have a known ritual with a known side effect if something goes wrong, and we see exactly how that plays out.
The ritual process itself is well done, I love the complicated mundane-ness of it, with that tiny dash of arcane. I actually found myself trying to follow it along, mentally rotating a picture of a dog in my head, until it started rotating it into 4th dimensional space.
