My very first SCP! Hurray for me!

I want to thank the good folks from IRC Chat, especially IronShears and Mooagain for checking all the grammatical errors in the article and for other stuff too.

I would also want to give a special thank you to Placeholder McD for helping mostly with the content of this article. They also suggested I should use the term "semiohazard" from their own SCP article, SCP-INTEGER.

[+] Explanation

The DoA somehow captured a Nameless Fae from the forest that's running out of names, to be honest. They gave it a Name which the Fae was forced to be stuck with and proceeded to torture it for Pygnite (hence the silver rod¹ and the golden-brown ingots).

I am well aware that most authors writing for DoA rely on providing a new perspective and/or origins of one or more pre-existing SCPs (such as SCP-3220 and SCP-5709).

That was not my intent when writing this article. My original intention was just to tell a story concerning torture and the darkness surrounding the Department of Abnormalities without being too obvious. That is all.

I wonder if it really needs to be that classified, but I guess that could be more due to the DoA's involvement than anything else. The thing I like best is the twist that reveals why it's an "Abnormality" instead of an SCP. When I first saw this I thought you were madly ladly trying to make a DoA GoI format, and was pleasantly surprised to find otherwise. The best twists are those that were hidden in plain sight all along.

I also dig the theme.

Just one more article and we can finally have the tag!

I like the improvements, but I don't think this would warrant a level 6 clearance. Maybe levels 3-5, but aside from that I like the article and it gets a +1

There's been major improvement since the last time I saw this, and I really appreciate it. I wasn't really expecting you to go for a semiohazard, just gave it as an example, but you've reworked it to make a whole lot of sense here. My crit regarding clueing in the reader further and grammar errors has been addressed, and all-in-all this is a much more streamlined and effective version of what you were making before.

Good on you for implementing crit so well, especially on your first article. I really like this and I look forward to future contributions from you.

sidenote: What's the deal with "Sacrifice Confers Power"? Is there an intended relationship to Inevitable?

Nah, it's nothing.

I just really like that version of the Foundation motto.

Edit: I changed it to "Secrecy, Concealment, Preservation" to avoid any confusion.

I think there's a lot to love about the opening and I like wanting to incorporate SCP-4000, but I strongly dislike the incident log with convenient note that just shows up out of nowhere to explain the article. It's a mediocre narrative device that circumvents the actual need to convey and feed information to the reader in a meaningful way that actually makes sense as an in universe action. I just cannot for the life of me figure out why any fairy would cause a containment breach just to write a poetic note rather than trying to jailbreak this fae corpse outright. Worse, the poem itself isn't great and distracts from the imagery in the article, which is a key aspect of the best DoA articles like 3790 and 5832 that serves a critical role in evoking a mood and creating atmosphere. My recommendation is to nix the incident log outright and find a way to convey your story by writing about the anomaly and the room itself.

Yeah, the "note at the end" is the weakest part of the article. Might work better (less contrived, more spooky) if those were instead the translated lyrics of some haunting faerie melody heard emanating from within, or something like that.

But I actually have all the answers to all of your concerns, but I won't tell you outright as it might ruin the mood of the article altogether.

I instead will tell you three facts about the Incident Log that might help you piece together the story:

• Yes, the Abnormality did write the poem.
• The Abnormality, however, was not the one that was crying and screaming.
• No one can see very well during the blackout.

Making a guess:

The Abnormality used the black out to somehow free itself and transfer its name back to whoever named it, allowing it to return back from whence it came since it now had no name

The story seems a bit unfocused for me with Fae, a bit of 6800 and DoA (admittedly I haven't read 6800 yet, so I can't say how much the inclusion of it makes sense here.)

I think something else is missing here for me, but I can't unfortunately really put my finger on it. -1

The mood was outstanding, but to be honest, if you hadn't explained things here up above, I would have had no idea what was what. I would have left the article frustrated not having enough to understand, and not in a "hmm that makes you think" kind of way.

Also, gotta agree, the poem did not improve the article.

So, cool atmosphere, but content lacking. No vote, but ready for more.

I think the poem, while being the weakest part is still acceptable, but I always love more DoA articles especially well written ones like this +1

I don't love the DoA being used for more modern anomalies rather that what I've seen it as thus far, but that's just personal preference.
I like the idea well enough, of an SCP-4000 instance being saddled with a name it really dislikes, and imprisoned by the Foundation.
I'd never come across SCP-6800 so I wouldn't have guessed its involvement in the anomaly. I'd say it should maybe be linked in the article proper, but I'd guess it, and a link to SCP-4000 were intentionally excluded, given that seems par for the course for the other DoA articles referencing SCPs, so I get why that would be done.
Poem could be tad improved, probably, but its not bad. I like the reference to semiohazards.
I think overall the article could be a bit better, but I don't dislike it.
