This is a disturbing story. It has the same pedophilic feel as the Moon entity which collects and 'marries' the souls of pre-Menarche girls, or the fey in the first season episode of Torchwood.
This creature is billions of years old, and out of all planets and creatures, great and small, chose a lonely middle-class boy in a first world country as its bestie? I'm not buying it.
Plus there's the matter of the grandmother who loves this kid, this kid who is all who remains of her dead adult child. But as soon as the Foundation amnesticizes everyone, she's out of the picture. The little boy could give two —— about this woman who cares for him. We hear nothing more from her, and the boy doesn't even remember she exists. That's not normal.
Something is very, VERY wrong here.
It feels like the parents did something they shouldn't, and now the creature has the Foundation by the short and curlies instead of the other way around. The Foundation is not treating this kid like any other kid it has ever housed, and the entity's eords feel like a threat cloaked in the baby talk adults use to mask a situation's true depth from little ears.
So I have to ask, what's really going on in this piece? Because it just doesn't feel like Barney. Thank you for reading.
