This was almost a downvote. Now, lemme explain why. Throughout the entire reading, I couldn't help but feel like the reason behind the piece was dumb. I mean, the backstory is fairly typical, to the degree that I'm sure a couple of indie Vtubers I've heard of have similar ones, and they ain't tripping over Foundation alarms, so how did they find this one? I mean, the forest of Usinsk is the indicative, but there's a problem: The forest of Usinsk is a real place. Why would that trigger anything? As I debated the piece, and finished it, I ended up dissatisfied with this missed suspension of disbelief.
So I finish the article, come here to write a review, and I see the title here… And I read the article again, taking into account that this is a pattern screamer. We still have the problem, but is heavily diminished by the brilliancy of the concept that I had missed.
And then something clicks… What if I google 'Usinsk scp'. And lo and behold, it's the location of 3930. It all clicks. I am thus feeling fairly satisfied. While the full explanation of the piece feels a bit info-dumpy, I think overall, it's an amazing idea with a fine execution.
I'll upvote this, but it wouldn't hurt to crosslink to the original pattern screamers thing for the reason of the location; it helps give a better point of anchoring to the piece. Unless there's already a crosslink to it, in which case, shame on me.
Anyhow, enough excusing my smooth brain moment. You made patterns screamers into a Vtuber. You deserve the world.
Just to add, I noticed a neat detail that both articles are label "()930". For fun I tried to see if the other series followed this trend. I was disapointed to see that it didn't, but I think its cool anyway.

Not bad, but I have to -1 due to headcanon issues. Fundamentally, I view the Foundation as an organization run by bureaucracy-obsessed assholes who don't care about the negative toll their actions have on anomalies (see SCP-3949). So I'd imagine their reaction to this:

I don't understand your reason for give us -1, as, you score us with -1 just because the article isn't according to your headcanon instead of judge the quality or I'm not understanding well?
For me, the quality suffers because of my differing headcanon.
I don't buy the Foundation changing the containment procedures for 6930 after they're already successfully neutralizing her, solely because the procedures caused her hurt. The Foundation (in my headcanon) is run by headstrong assholes, not compassionate people.

And I mean, whose to say that the Foundation is intentionally being compassionate here? They could just be taking logical steps to ensure that SCP-6930 does not become mentally unstable.
In conclusion, your closed mind seems to be the only thing prohibiting you from enjoying the article.

Downvoting usually means that someone didn't enjoy reading the page. Clashing headcanon can result in someone not enjoying the read.

This gets a little unnecessarily accusatory here—readers are not obligated to change their headcanon of the Foundation simply because a piece requires them to do so in order to enjoy reading it. Sometimes a piece is written well enough where the reader willingly and enthusiastically accepts a change to their headcanon; sometimes a reader has trouble taking a piece seriously because of the headcanon difference and prefers to downvote. The latter is not against the rules for voting, nor should it be considered a personal failing of a reader.
Ah, I see. My apologies. I suppose I let my emotions cloud my judgement a bit too much in my original comment. I should not have been so quick to judge Observer's opinions just because I disagreed with their assessment. I myself have felt a great dislike towards SCPs that portray the Foundation as being more cruel/heartless than I am personally used to, so it was actually a bit hypocritical of me.
No worries! I'm actually much in the same boat with regards to Foundation portrayal; I tend to headcanon that the Foundation is kind whenever it can reasonably be such. I like to think that helps with personnel morale and motivation. Plenty of readers do prefer the darker, grittier portrayal though!

While I believe that exploring a cruel Foundation (opposite to the "Cold, not cruel" motto) would be pretty interesting, it wouldn't quite work here for a couple of reasons.
The main one, they are not fully aware of 6930's capacities; I mean, she just appeared one day, started making streams, and all of a sudden she is aware of SCP-3930 (which, may I remind you, is restricted to only seven people), her own creation (which seems to be related to it) and other phenomena/activities she shouldn't be aware of. Add to that the fact that no more than 10 people can know about the void 6930's audience of at least a thousand viewers and you've got a recipe for disaster.
Not only that, but she also seems to be within the Internet, which per sé makes her pretty difficult to contain and keep at bay. And, if Foundation entirely sabotages her career and later on she finds out, there might be some chaotic consequences, either detrimental to 3930's containment or to the Foundation itself. As an author comment, despite Foundation having not confirmed or debunked 6930's capacities to cause chaos, I tell you she is very capable of doing that if she wants to.
The second one is that, if you've noticed, before Kore's mail, no one at the Foundation knows exactly what's going on with her. Like, they know she is aware of 3930, but they don't know if she has knowledge of the Foundation or about the experiment in which apparently 3930 was created, which seems to be the case. Essentially, she may have important knowledge that they can't let go.
And yeah, while they could force her to answer questions, there's a chance that she does not answer properly or gives deliberately wrong information to the Foundation, either bc she is scared or bc she does not want to help the people that literally killed her career. Foundation giving her a second chance to be a VTuber and helping her to do so is like when you've done something wrong to somebody and start treating them good hoping they don't notice it, and start preparing a "hey, no hard feelings, ok?" in case they find out what you've done.
To sum it up (again): they decide not to be completely rude to her because it wouldn't be the smartest decision they could make; and also, they're not helping her altruistically, but rather slightly manipulating her into seeing the Foundation as her friends so she complies with whatever they ask her.
A lot of the wording is incredibly awkward. I understand 6930's dialogue is supposed to be that way, but the most notable issues I had were the clinical sections, such as the conprocs and the addenda. It's also not entirely clear why the Foundation would have paid much attention to it in the first place; practically half of the Vtubers I know of have some supernatural kayfabe element.
Yeah, I was gonna say, wouldn't it make more sense for the foundation to make it seem like it was all a joke/story? Like, it wouldn't make people bat an eye too much, and those that did would either be called crazy or amnesticized by the foundation

About 6930's story, yes, it is true that Foundation could just keep it as something fictional; however, 6930 doesn't see it that way, and telling her "hey could you act like your story is fake although it's probably real" might be something weird. Also, the file of SCP-3930 (from where 6930 comes) states that "no more than 10 people must know about the anomaly at any given time". Foundation is not quite sure if 6930 telling people about it contextually does count as that, but they are not willing to take the risk
At first I thought “this is cute and I like it but I’ll probably forget about it quickly.”
Then you turned a pattern screamer (always been a huge fan of anything to do with them) into a cute and harmless YouTube streamer. Very cool, totally unexpected.
Then, and I don’t know how much of this is intended cause it’s really subtle, I start realizing how a femme presenting streamer being suppressed and having her despair at that suppression memefied, all basically just because she existed and dared to be publicly happy about it… finds a complex but fitting metaphor in pattern screamers.
While I personally like “happy” SCPs, I have to admit that a lot of them don’t work well. This one, after reading it in its entirety, absolutely does.
Even if most of the subcanons don’t let Foundation staff have supportive relationships with skips, the fact that in this instance they did so before realizing exactly what they were dealing with, then stuck to their guns after finding out… is very cool to me.

P.S. in rebuttal to the “I like this but…” comments, I definitely see where they’re coming from. But consider that, tangential to the point of the skip, this post opens some serious room to further explore 3930 elsewhere without changing the tone surrounding pattern screamers in general. It contributes to that anomaly’s lore independent of the specifics of how that lore is actually explored in this case.

The idea of making a "friendly" PS was born thanks to a conversation I had with Dc_Yerko, who said that he disliked PSs bc they were edgy and only hated humans and existence for no reasonable motive, so I said "hey, what if there was a PS that didn't hate the existence and, instead, embraced it?"
While the idea had been previously applied in SCP-ES-037, I gave it a different focus here; while in ES-037 the PSs want to exist again (escape death) and will parasite anyone's mind to do so, 6930 is far more wholesome, only desiring to exist and find a place in the world without harming anybody.
I'm also willing to see if this helps or inspires somebody to write a different type of Pattern Screamer!
I think sentient SCPs may be my favorites. So much potential to explore the possible mental and emotional effects of the Foundation's more detached and seemingly ruthless containment methods. You certainly utilized that potential with Paty. All she ever wanted was to exist on her own terms and feel connected to the outside world. I'm glad the Foundation gave her that chance.
Also I love the ending but I do wish it was a bit more detailed.

I intentionally kept the ending kinda vague to allow readers to speculate what happened to Paty after she was renamed Claire Cloverfield, but having the "ok but she is doing fine now" as a reference point. Also because I posted this the last day of MemeCon and adding a more complex ending would have taken me a couple of days more 😬
It's difficult for me to like this. Unlike other similar articles that deal with anomalies just trying to entertain people and make a living, I feel there is not enough emotional investment for the anomaly. This makes its shutdown by the Foundation have no real emotional impact (at least to me, I understand that these observations are quite subjective).
I also have to agree with Observer in that the Foundation neutralizing and then bringing back an anomaly for "ethical reasons" is extremely uncharacteristic to the point that it breaks the articles immersion. There's no problem with making the Foundation more humane or kind but releasing anomalies is breaking one of the core tenets of most readers' headcanons. It's too drastic and with too little explanation in the Foundation's motivations in doing so.
Yeah, the lack of emotional impact may be due to the way 6930's past is presented, but it was the best way I could think of presenting it at the moment; I think it does work but it may be difficult to get attached to at the beginning 🤔
I've already mentioned the reasons why the Foundation acts the way they do in a comment above, but they are not "bringing back" the anomaly; they are making sure they can control the anomaly however they want (while keeping it reasonable) through some sort of emotional manipulation and the "sense of debt"; Foundation can easily say "Well, we want you to do this, and you will comply because we saved your career", even though they know they were the reason her career was about to be shut down.
might sound a little bit far-fetched but hey, the alternative is the constant risk of Paty discovering the truth and they don't know the full extent of her anomalous capacities nor how to stop her
The concept behind this is charming, but the execution could use a little work. I like the concept enough that I'd be willing to give a shot at editing this, with your permission.

I liked this enough to upvote, but I think it would be better if the change in countainment procedures happened before the SCP was neutralized.
