SCP-5814 - Substitution reaction

This article is a modified version of my previous work on CN site based on its translated version on INT site with the translator's permission:

I absolutely adore hard science fiction, especially when it gets into the nitty gritty and explains why it's a very real(-seeming) danger. I really hope we see more articles like this one the site, God knows I lack the experience to write something like this. Very well done, +1.

It's been a while since I've read such a scientifically based SCPs, and I really enjoyed it! Really interesting read even for someone who loves science and concepts like these even when they escape me slightly. Definite +1!

And about that log...

After reading that last deciphered log, am I right in thinking that the oxidized corpses of the silicon-based race turned into the Earth's mantle and crust after their mass extinction? I went and looked at the composition of both the crust and mantle to make sure, and wouldn't you know, they're formed primarily of Oxygen and Silicon (most prevalent on the crust as opposed to the mantle), aka 14-8. I think this may be what you were going for, but I'd love to hear your thoughts regardless!

Yes, you're correct! My idea is that the remains of previous silicon-based organisms then became the raw material of the Earth's crust and mantle.

I wonder, at what point does something stop being an anomaly and start being a previously misunderstood or totally unknown function of the universe?

I like the story, and the sad concept of a dead race of silicon based life attempting to pass on it's knowledge, fears, and hopes to what it believes to be the next likely versions life will take on.

How would they know these aliens didn't face death unemotionally, or worshipping bad Gods or SCP-5814 itself??

So as the article is translated from a CN branch article, there is actually a follow-up article explaining the "external clues" which helped the Foundation to translate their language here (which is actually the "flower-like" creatures occurred in this article). I am planning to rewrite that one but it will take some time lol

And about the engraved message, my idea is that the diamond cuboid can be regarded as CD-like stuff, and the information is stored in the medium by specific etched structures. So the "engraved message" is not necessarily equal to the audio signal, it is just that the audio signal was stored in the engraved structures.
