I don't know, SCP-758's ability sounds similar, if not exactly identical, to that of SCP-410.
I had not seen SCP-410 before I wrote and posted this. I do have to admit I've not managed to make it through all the SCP's yet.
The ability is similar, but not exactly identical.
SCP-758's ability is limited to correcting breaches in technical rules only and does not enable it to change the content of the text as is shown in paragraph three of SCP-410's description.
Also, SCP-410 is not capable of applying it's ability to digital mediums or spoken language as SCP-758 is.
If senior staff feel these differences are not significant enough to warrant keeping SCP-758 around, I am up for any suggestions as to how I might make it worth holding on to. If we can't find a way to make it work, I have no problem with it being decommissioned or deleted. This is, after all, only my first attempt.
Same general idea, two completely different executions. Considering these were both written at the same time, it's just one of those coincidences.
I say don't bother changing, it still works.
Admin, SCP Wiki
I say put it in front of undeciphered writings systems: Linear A, Rongorongo, proto-sinaitic, Olmec… The Voynich manuscript?
We already did that. Research Log entry 5.
Also remember that his ability has nothing to do with cryptology.
At last, an SCP I can understand why we keep around…
There are a lot of SCPs that speak languages we can't understand/figure out.
Perhaps some cross-testing is in order?
What's the point in giving the SCP religious texts if we do not know whether or not he can make corrections based on original content? Giving him a Bible may just result in him correcting any errors, but not historical inaccuracy. Further testing into factual corrections should be performed
Two points.
One, this is not a roleplaying site. Be careful that your posts do not stray into "in character" territory.
Two, I generally like to assume that an SCP article is supposed to be a simple brief overview of the necissary details of an SCP object's documentation, and that other documents detailing the boring bits exist elsewhere. In this case, yes, the Foundation would certainly have run such tests, but they would be quite boring to read and thus needn't exist in the article proper.
I wasn't posting in character, I just am really bad at both comprehension and conversing.
I think we should make a testing log, because I want to see the results of him correcting things.
Also, what would happen if we wrote 100 pages of random letters?
Besides, he's been lying or has discovered a new ability:
It has been determined that SCP-758 is speaking truthfully when he claims that he does not understand the languages he is reading.
his ability has an understanding of the concept of a living language and he has proven himself capable of changing a text written in a given time period and change any colloquialisms and evolved words to provide a "translated" copy that results in the same message as the original text.
Much more interesting then test logs.
It could use polish, but I rather like this for some reason.
It's not bad, but I downvoted for the Keter duty reference. Though this wasn't a lolFoundation instance so much as a "we so hardcore" instance. Either way, ugh.
he has proven himself capable of changing a text written in a given time period and change any colloquialisms and evolved words to provide a "translated" copy that results in the same message as the original text.
I kinda want to see what this guy could do with some Shakespeare.
if your reading this your gay
