Elevator Pitch: There is more to a mirror than just a reflection; and there is more to a reflection than the mirror.

Central Narrative: The item is a Renaissance era propped mirror that is able to replicate any living organism into near perfect copies except for the eyes which are completely void of color and pigmentation. The creator is unknown and is believed to have been made into a regular mirror for the time with no recordings of when it’s anomalous properties became present but has said to have started after the execution of Marie Antoinette. While the mirror shows no sign of any brain function it has been show to be entirely sentient and can move slowly, about 1 cm per minute to avoid danger.

When coming into direct line of sight of any living being the mirror will shake abruptly before producing a duplicate of said being with average times being dependent on height and weight. The copies consider themselves ‘perfects’ and ‘symbols of the Republic’ and calling the person that was replicated ‘inferiors’ and ‘traitors.’ Why it believes this is unknown as the copies have no cognitive function and were essentially messengers for the mirror.

After 24 hours if the copies or copy doesn’t die they both undergo a process known as the ‘Great Equality’ where both would sink in a corrosive substance with only the head remaining for 42 hours before disappearing as well. When asking copies would say it was for ‘the Greater Good of the Citizen.’ While it does tie it the speaking points of the French Revolution it is still unknown why it happens or it’s connection to the Revolution itself. However, if either die before the 24 hours the remaining will get to live with the copy taking the place of the copied with similar eyes and other bodily functions.

In extreme ‘emotional’ distress the mirror would ooze a corrosive material that inhibited the copies. When tested upon some decayed blood and tears were present. When tested to see who it was the findings dated back to the French Revolution, deepening its ties with the event. It’s ‘emotional’ habits are wild with recordings of a soft feminine humming to popular French musical pieces of the late 18th century and the words, “Pardonnez-moi monsieur, je ne voulais pas.“ or “Pardon me sir, I didn’t mean to,” in French. This was usually accompanied with single strands of corrosive material being shed from it’s base.

Hook/Attention-Grabber: The whole SCP is more of a mystery and while it might not be deadly it could cause significant harm to others where, due to it’s long lifetime, most likely helped shape the world in the disappearances of historical figures during a pivitol time in European politics. It also doesn’t go down the traditional path of constant murderous SCP’s and dwells in the more elaborate and sentient sides of the Foundation.

I have to agree with DarknessAwaits.

The idea is pretty confusing and i have no idea what this Mirror do. Does it copy people or what?

I suggest you to clear your idea on what this mirror do, cause right now its very convoluted and messy.

Also I personally did not see Central Narrative. If there was feel free to correct me.

Hello hello! Not an official reviewer, but I can still read and give my thoughts.
So, I find this idea draft kinda… confusing? I'll elaborate.
What I mostly have reading this are a few questions. Mostly things I either didn't get or that I want a bit more insight in.

The first question is, why does the mirror do all this? Or better put, what is the intended function of the mirror? Ok, balance, copies, makes sense so far. But why emotions? Why the black substance?
To add to that, why was it created in the first place? What was the aim of the creator? Was there a creator?

Which leads me to the second question- is the mirror sentient? You mention it 'being asked' things, so I guess it is, but then you never really specify why or how a sentient mirror came to be a thing. I think you could explore this side of the anomaly.

Next, just what is this 'great equality'? Why do the creations disappear after two days if their counterpart is killed? (I assume they disappear at least).

All in all, this draft just left me… really confused. Again, I am not a critter, nor am I anyone with authority of any kind. But I think this idea lacks a… thread? I dunno. A narrative? Something to make it so all the elements you list form a story and add up to something. So far, this looks like a kinda mysterious and ancient 'thing that does a thing' with secret reasons for doing so.

Then again, it might be that I just did not understand anything, which is why I asked all the questions I did. If that's the case, by all means, feel free and encouraged to correct me!

I actually do agree with both of you. After re reading it I sort of started rambling on trying to get the picture I had in my head on paper. However, I can see I left many important parts out and was not clear on what really mattered. All in all I would like to thank you for even taking the time to read this and give your opinion. I will try to make things clearer and consicse.
