Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Elevator Pitch:
This SCP is a yellow Post-It Note brand sticky note with the words "Get More Kanbans" written on it with black marker. Whenever someone reads the note, they will be sent into a trance state and will seek out sticky notes, write "Get More Kanbans" upon them, and then stick said notes around the SCP to create a kanban board. As the kanban board increases in size, those under its trance will become desperate, breaking into homes and supply stores to acquire more notes. If the subject is unable to acquire more notes, they will create sticky notes out of things such as paper, tape, cloth, or even earwax. There has been no found way to stop this trance, and as subjects will never stop trying to add to the board, they will often perish from starvation or exertion. When left without a tranced subject for too long, the SCP is able to manifest these notes in the surrounding area at a slow rate.
Central Narrative:
Several reports of small midwestern town citizens breaking into and stealing office supplies from the town over come out. The Foundation decides to investigate once several residents - including an officer - are arrested, having said to act manic in the holding cell before curling up onto the floor crying, refusing to eat, and subsequently dying from starvation/dehydration. The Foundation finds the SCP located in the basement of a house - the inside of the house covered in head to toe in sticky notes. After being contained, it is learned the SCP is able to manifest these notes on the opposite side of any wall it's placed on, managing to break containment for a moment, trancing a scientist. A few reports of supply store break-ins are reported again, and several notes are found to have manifested inside the house. Acquiring chunk of the drywall to examine it, millions of notes are found within the walls.
Hook/Attention-Grabber:
That relatable feeling of stress when you are overwhelmed with work on a whole new level. As well as the humor of being obsessed with office supplies.
Additional Notes:
Not sentient.
While not fully explored, perhaps this SCP is fungus-like? Explaining its ability to "grow", and rather than having infectious spores you breath in, you "look them in"(?) For example, perhaps those affected by the SCP are found with tiny paper bits in their eyes.
It should be mentioned: I do indeed have a rough draft for this SCP of which I started about a year ago before dropping it for awhile. Everything up until the addendums could pass as being completed, whereas the addendums themselves are only summaries of what I am hoping to write. The original idea was for this SCP to be "BUY More Kanbans" rather than "GET", and as such my current photo in the draft reflects such. Along with this, I do not have much relating to the fungus idea mentioned prior - yet.
