Hello, I've been lurking for about three months wanting to make an idea for an SCP article, but I've not quite been ready to do so. So I just want to make sure of my footing before I do.

1) When I post a concept to the ideas forum, would it be ideal to contact one or two butterfly squad members to request them to critique it?

2) If I were to have a mainlist article, say I created / edited an image (using CC material) for the article, would it be allowed? (with credit where it's due, obviously)

To answer no. 1, it would be ideal to contact as many as you feel necessary, though the best way would be to check out our IRC Chats and go to #thecritters.

Onto no. 2! You can absolutely create an image and use it for an SCP, however, it has to be released under our CC BY-SA 3.0. You would be the creator of the image unless you're merging images together. See our totally up to date Licensing Guide for more questions, or stop into #site34 on IRC.

This is up to you. One or two would be the ideal number, and any more than three would be considered too many. Please keep in mind that you're contacting real people who will be volunteering their time to help you, so make sure you make it count.

As per the Media Licensing Guide,

"Can I edit a file I want to use?"

Absolutely! Make sure you cite your sources even if you edited an image.

Just make sure your image(s) are compatible with the wiki's license, i.e. CC-BY-SA 3.0, CC-BY, and the like. Please read the aforementioned guide to get a better understanding of specific image licenses.
