SCP-5841 / Discussion

This is the discussion related to the wiki page SCP-5841.

Guess those conscripts aren't to be taken lightly, after all.

Come join the fun.

It's a real get together.

Be seeing you.

~ "Memoryhead," Undertale

Cancon, chapter three of the series with no name (which I'm calling something involving Memory for now, because it's a prequel to the original AIAD series and deals with antimemetics… and also because computers use memory, get it?)

All icons were made by Placeholder McD, save for the faces of the SCP-5841-1 instances.

Thanks to Pedagon, Placeholder McD, Nagiros, VoidLady does not match any existing user name and Anorrack, chiifu, Ralliston

Ya know, this looks (to me) like a re-imagining of SCP-2535 and/or SCP-2211, only this particular office building with "body horror" stuff is located in Ontario rather than Shanghai.

Tyumen is the one to thank for most of this - his writing really shines here and I'm excited to see how this piece is received. I'm really glad I got to be a part of this and work with such a talented author, as well as the rest of our team.

For attribution purposes - aside from the licensed image of the office building, I am responsible for all of the images here, with the exception of the injured glacon and hydra head sprites, which were made by Tyumen.

Thank you very much for reading!

I have a hard time with this.

DESCRIPTION: SCP-5841 is an anomaly inhabiting the 5th story of the Hong Corporate Center in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The nature of SCP-5841 is unknown; it is believed to be electronic, as all power in the building was re-routed to the fifth story upon the anomaly's initial emergence. All exploration of the building has proved inconclusive, as all personnel sent to contain the anomaly have been invariably converted into instances of SCP-5841-1 before reaching the fifth floor.

This says absolutely nothing. It's set dressing for later, sure, but you're leading with a pretty bland foot here. I feel no tension, and the mystery here is so omni-directional that I struggle for something to latch onto.

Holy shit. This is becoming one of my favorite series on the wiki. Just the way information is revealed and everything fits together is so seamless. +1

My thoughts on this are pretty much the same as the last skip, haha. I enjoyed it, but rough around the edges. My critiques on this are pretty much limited to dialogue; I would have been bothered enough to novote if you had actually let Tangela over there surrender to the Foundation, but you saved it at the last minute. Anyway, the dialogue; it's… I think my Age of Ultron comparison last time might have hit too close, haha. This definitely reads like a Marvel movie. That is to say, most of the dialogue, when not explicitly there to raise tension, ends up being witty back-and-forth banter that feels out of place with the situation. The whole cutaway with the MTF talking about why not to shoot the AICs, that took me out of it. As did the whole Mnemosyne stomping her feet until all the bad guys went "oh okay" and let her talk to the dude. The jumping into the hospital to run out with hospital tech was also very superhero movie, haha. It was rough, but I liked the overall plot of it enough to forgive slights like that. Looking forward to finish.
