Special thanks to Dr Dan for writing an interesting story ostensibly about his own murder monster, but really about his author avatar. Hope mine doesn't let the side down.
Dr. Dan struck me as the most interesting character in the first hundred skips, and it never sat right with me that one of the most interesting supplements in the first hundred skips never got a follow-up. (Or so I thought, see below.) So when we needed a clever Dan for our Resurrection storyline, I knew where I could get one cheap, and I very quickly thought of a funny way to justify his continued existence. I hope you're on board, I promise we're not heading for the sun.1
Since someone's gonna ask: my tale was not written as a response to or a retcon of this, which isn't in any continuity anyway because of how it ends. I had no idea it existed until my tale was written, re-written, re-re-written and nearly posted. I almost missed it entirely, because it inverts the characters. We're not doing even remotely the same thing, using only superficially similar elements, so yay. Mine almost looks like an ironic commentary, now; Dan's rocket is purely imaginary.
