I think that Halo Infinite is going to be a great pass-time. I know the graphics look somewhat disappointing, but having a more modern Halo game is going to be a thrill!
Oh, it's hard to pick just one. Even if I am a year late to reply to this. I'm really looking forward to Horizon: Forbidden West. I enjoyed Zero Dawn more than any new-age open-world I've played in a while, and I'm excited to see how they improve upon the first game. I know it's probably not gonna happen, but I would be so stoked if we got to ride some of the aerial creatures this time around.
A bit of an underappreciated gem of a game is Va-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action, and I hear that it's getting a sequel hopefully soon by the name of N1RV Ann-A. Something about it tells me it won't top the original, but I'm honestly thrilled for any new content regarding Va-11 Hall-A.
The game I'd pick is SCP Pandemic and Nine Tail Fox. I played the beta versions, and they are incredible. Just the fact that SCP Pandemic won game of the year is amazing. Also, just so I don't get corrected, SCP Pandemic is now known as SCP 5K.
I'm excited for the release of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, AKA Yakuza 8! I'm so excited for the dual protagonists meeting each other and fighting together!!!
Hollow Knight: Silksong. The platforming for Hornet looks really fun to watch (I love seeing Let's Plays of Hollow Knight). The OST being heavy on strings really appeals to me (I got shoved into violin lessons and string quartets and orchestras since kindergarten. I'm biased to how pretty strings sound to me).
Christopher Larkin's music in general is gorgeous and I'm glad he's doing the OST for the sequel. The melody for Lace's theme is super dramatic and haunting and I want to hear this in-game during the boss fight in the field of white flowers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRs58D34OLY
God I am sooooo pumped for Silksong too. I spent a lot of time with Hollow Knight and Hornet's my favorite.
Honestly, it's a bit overshadowed since it's in alpha testing, but the game GTFO really appeals to me.
It's very heavily based on teamwork and requires a lot of communication, practice, and coordination. You're given absolutely zero directions for your missions, very (and I mean very) limited materials, and really long gameplay to spare for a 4 player co-op (and multiplayer) game.
The graphics and atmosphere are rock solid to me and really captures what is being done with the game. It's hardcore and punishing, so it may not appeal to many.
edit: i don't suggest buying it though, since it's very early in alpha stages.
Ooo, I've seen videos of that! I think it'd be a bit too intense for me, personally, to play- or at least be any good at- but the game overall looks great.
Empire of Sin. An XCOM-style turn-based strategy where you play as a mob boss in 1920s Chicago? Where do I sign up?!
John Romero's had a rough couple decades, but I really hope he's able to pull this one off. The concept is just too good.
I'll also throw out Weird West and System Shock 3 out as honorable mentions, since I'm not entirely convinced either one will ever materialize.
EDIT: *screams in crushed hopes*
Crown Tundra Pokemon DLC. being from the UK I was kinda bummed out about the newest games and how they kinda sucked so really looking forward to the next DLC and getting more of the NatDex unlocked.
Zyn already mentioned Silksong and I'm really excited about it too!! I've yet to finish Hollow Knight but still.
Another game I'm excited about is the Breath of the Wild sequel!
I'm excited for OMORI! I looove RPGmaker horror games, especially on the more surreal side, so I can't wait!
I'm kinda hoping that Elden Ring will come out and not further delay the release date because i'm really hooked on fromsoft's soulsbourne series. But they released a remake of Demon Souls so i guess i could wait for awhile.
Minecraft 1.17.
FNAF: Security Breach
And a few of my own games…
Not a game per se, but I am very much looking forward to the release of the Analogue Turbo Duo console. I’ve been waiting for a good aftermarket Turbo/PC Engine console to come out for a long time, and I am excited to be able to play HuCards and TurboChips, and especially CD games, on reliable modern hardware.
