I think "Non-Euclidean" is overused as a spooky description, to be perfectly honest :p

A thank you to TheMightyMcB, gee0765, weizhong, cybersqyd, KaraKatt, RockTeethMothEyes ,and DrMagnus for taking a look at this and repeatedly telling me it's too obscure until we finally got to whatever this current iteration is.

It really is! I just started digging into other ways of explaining "impossible" shapes today because I can't stand that term. Found this, and it's amazing. Your username is perfect.

Love it. I kinda always felt like the classification tiers were weirdly named, like the Foundation just picked words from Ancient Greek or Latin at random, especially since they suddenly changed their mind and decided to go about it like any real organization would when it came to the "safe" designation. What, was "anthos," the Greek word for flower, already taken by the Horizon Initiative or something?

It's a good idea, but the execution is way off for me. It feels way too on the nose, and I've seen a lot of scps that are just "normal object but stupid people call it an scp". I'm sure there's a great way to make a -J that's suposed to be non-euclid, but this doesn't feel like it.

I'm not sure that you understand what "Euclid" is referring to in this case.

Yes, I got the geometry joke. That's what I meant, there is the potential for a very funny -J based on the idea of it being non euclid(ean), but to me, this one just feels lackluster and bare-minimum.

You know, to be perfectly honest, I thought the same thing starting out. But after 5 revisions, it was either too preachy (it's hard to convey that sort of information and keep it interesting in this context!), too oblique, or not funny.

So I switched tacks, and now this balances between quite a lot of nebulous punchlines, one of which happens to be that spherical geometries are common.

If you're ever on IRC, hop on to #site17 and give me a ping, I'd be happy to talk out any ideas on improving this joke but keeping it appropriate for a wide audience :)
