Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Elevator Pitch: The SCP is a golden bed. Whoever sleeps on it will dream and pay a visit to a cunning genie-like figure, that may or may not fulfill your desires.
Central Narrative: Personnel found the SCP at a museum of Mexican history. It was rumored to have “miraculous yet dangerous effects”, and the story goes as follows: due to the Aztecs daily habit of sacrificing, their gods were pleased and granted them a golden bed that made them lucid dream and grant those wishes. This is the reason why the Aztecs were so advanced and prosperous in many ways. However, ever since the Spanish came, conquered and confiscated the bed, the gods were angered. Manit, the trickster god, convinced all other gods not to destroy the Spanish, and instead possessed the bed and offered humanity a challenge to either obtain their desires IF they are to win a challenge he offers them during the dream, or face a terrible fate. The bed has since been in the hands of the Foundation and many tests have been conducted to test the limitations of the bed. Since Manit possesses the sleepers mind, lucid dreaming is impossible. Challenges are mostly rigged and twisted, like riddles, ridiculous tasks and harsh tests. Losing results in Manit deciding a horrible fate for the dreamer (like killing him or turning him in a chicken). If the dreamer wins the challenge, then Manit grants him one wish. For this reason, the central narrative revolves around the Foundation being on the lookout for the brightest subjects that can win these challenges, as well as to prevent other GOIs from laying their hands on this bed.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: What seems like a simple object is nothing more than a powerful tool, where one enters the realm of dreams and changes something, but risks his life and the life of others (potentially the whole world).
Additional Notes: None.
