"Don't get caught with your fingers in my meat!
Grab a plate and boy, you're surely gonna eat!
If ever you're in doubt about how this feast began,
I make "beef" out of human flesh, I'm Karcist Uncle Sam!"
This was quite an interesting SCP, and I honestly have (mostly positive) mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the man being Uncle Sam himself seems a bit…on-the-nose. On the other hand, the characterization is excellent, and the article itself is very well-written. +1
To be honest it had to be the real uncle Sam. Uncle Sam really was a meatpacker named Samuel Wilson who was in the army and a contracted meat supplier during the War of 1812. Anyway, I'm glad you somewhat enjoyed it!
Oh, I'm historically illiterate. I had no idea that Sam Wilson ever existed!
Also, I didn't "somewhat" enjoy it - I enjoyed it wholeheartedly, and this story being based on a real person just furthered my enjoyment. Fine work, DrAkimoto.
There's no reason this anomaly is Uncle Sam narrative-wise besides just being a hook which fails to follow through. Besides that, the meat of this article is the characterization of the anomaly1, which fails to capture me due to a lack of tension and conflict. Sure, he disagrees with the ASCI over whether he should be contained, but it's never developed beyond "I'm a patriot and all, but goddamn guys I'm not going to keep turning children into Spam." The Foundation is secretly using his ability to essentially feed human meat to D-Class, but he never gets a chance to respond to it and grow as a character. This article is thwacked off at the trunk, so the anomaly never gets the chance to grow into a truly fleshed-out character.
This is a -1 from me.
Looks like 5031's gonna get a cooking partner.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the idea that Wilson's identity is tacked on in the least; it makes the article interesting and a bit poignant. Easy +1.
I feel I would enjoy this more, if I knew that Uncle sam was the person we are talking about. I dont know much of US history.
Oh boy, more cannibals for the wiki
+1 (even though I’m queasy)
