Well, I suppose the time has come to edit this puppy. Some discussion would be abundantly helpful, as I'm not sure how best to proceed. Honestly, when i was working with this, I thought it was a pretty decent idea. Let me know your thoughts, and I'll see what i can do to spice things up.
Ummm… well… I don't really have much of an opinion on it, but in the spirit of trying to be vaguely helpful, it kind of reminds me of The Zahir, only transmissible.
Interesting…do you think adding some kind of "anchor" for the effect might help? Right now it's just something of a force…but perhaps if it was some kind of awareness or being that was causing it, the obsession might make sense in a kind of "caretaker" relationship.
I'll have to see what I can come up with, any other suggestions are MUCH appreciated.
Personally, I've always liked this one. It never fully explains itself, and it gets progressively nastier over time, without any physical change to anything.
All I can think of for giving it any kind of sentience is a feeling of a childlike consciousness in the item. Perhaps it's just an illusion, but those affected see it as very real.

…that is a wonderful image. Especially when, father down the road, someone interrupts "song time", causing the person to fly in to a bloody rage, then spend hours trying to apologize to the broken open baseball.
I think that may be the issue…i shot for vagueness, in the hopes of making it more "one size fits all", but left it too hazy to get proper hooks in.

Well, this has always been a favorite of mine, so I'm a bit biased, but having just given it a read over, I like where it's going.
I appreciate that…I may need to do some more fine tuning, and possibly something a bit more…expansive, perhaps a story or something. The collapse of a human mind under a obsession is something that scares the hell out of me, and like all my fears, I want to spread them to others as best I can.
An odd thought just occurred to me: Would it be possible for a human or other living creature to become the "object" 293 bonds to?
Also are humans the only ones who can become obsessed, or can animals and other such things become obsessed as well?
I want to like this one. I just see it as too vague. Is there a geographical limit or is it focused in a certain area? Has it been observed to loop through particular locales or is it traveling somewhere (I like this last concept a lot)?
How is this SCP not a new mental disorder? Could the behavior be some side-effect of exposure to an unknown substance and the items are random choices from the affected victim?
Again, I want to like it, but I feel it needs more revision.
Well, it's implied in the article that each one of these things has affected multiple people. While they could all be infected by something else, I think it's highly unlikely that they would all.choose the same object.
Great article, with a gloomy and grimdark ending no matter what happens. It reminds me of that one loner we all used to know in primary school who would just sit on the corner by himself and play with his Star-Wars figurines who were like his babies to him
Also, a few questions I have:
If the epidermis is technically dead skin, could 293's effect take place on your skin?
If the you have a prosthetic, could you get attached to it?
If you leave two object's with 293's presence, would both of them get effected? If so, would an effected person get attached to BOTH of them and think that they are trying to compete for attention?
Could you become obsessed with part of someone that isn't alive (like carotin or feces)?
Offhand, fron reading the article, I'd say:

No/very unlikely. It's still part of a living being.

Sure.

Possibly/probably. I don't think we have any good tests on it's transmission.

I think not. I suspect you'd fixate on just one item. No doubt the first few to be exposed to this had a number of items around to potentially fixate on.

…I have no idea. I want to say no, but I honestly don't know if it's logic or squick making me say that.
This is incredibly boring. It's just a thing what makes you obsessed with stuff. It's confusing how it bonds to people, because we both know how close the object needs to be, but we also don't know the criteria of how to bond. Also, how did it bond with a house? houses aren't really objects, they're made of lots of smaller things. Wouldn't it bond with like, the paint, or the furniture, or a pane of glass, or anything within the house instead of the house as a whole?

I feel like a lot could be done with this concept, but as-is, it's just a plain and boring thing that makes you crazy. I feel like an interview log or some hints regarding this entity's true nature could improve the article greatly, but right now it's firmly in neutral territory for me.
And if the whole world is crashing down… fall through space out of mind with me.
The only reason I kind of like it is because it reminds me of Gollum.
I don't know why, but I don't like the pictures. To me, they take away from the article.
