There aren't a lot of pieces of writing that genuinely punch me in the gut like this does, despite the fact that not a lot actually happens in these tales. To be clear, I don't mean this as an insult — quite the opposite. Because this sure as hell did punch me in the gut numerous times.
This is some very beautiful writing that really goes to show what two talented authors can do when they really focus on characters and their relations instead of big explosions and action. But, more importantly, I feel like, this series is what writing becomes when the author becomes honest with the audience. It doesn't try to lie to us but paints an honest, painful, and emotional picture of what feels like real people with real emotions. And that, combined with the outstanding quality of the prose and dialogue, is just… it forms something more than unique, something more than beautiful — it forms a true masterpiece. Genuinely just cannot wait for more installments and the eventual hopeful book release, because dear god did you make me tear up and enjoy the hell out of reading about a group of fictional people that I have almost nothing in common with.
