Jamcon is awesome, isn't it? Thanks to everyone who looked this over to make sure this wasn't a complete coldpost.

The "Fear is the mind killer" thing is from Frank Herbert's Dune.

Hopefully! I'd always planned it to be some kind of cult town in the backwoods of Alaska, and this is my first attempt at writing something concrete about it.

There was just something about this article that hit me. No single sequence of events overstays its welcome, and the characterization, I think, hit all the right points to make Carter — and even the embodiment of the fursona — feel compelling to me, and make me care about their grievances and experiences. It's actually a bit surprising to me that you were able to write this up in the amount of time you mentioned on chat, because there's some solid character development in this flash fiction piece. And it's like you knew exactly who each character was meant to be.

So, I didn't know what to expect from the title, but I liked this, a lot. It really set a good mood and I'm glad I could read it.

In 2015, Private Amelia Carter (who transferred to ᐁ-23 from MTF-S-88 ("Animal Control")) commissioned the creation of SCP-5926-A as a means of boosting morale in the task force.

This is the only time she is referred to as a Private.

SCP-5926: You… look different. Like me.¹ Amy doesn't suit you anymore.

She called her Am-Am before.

Cpt. Carter: I don't know, but I'm wasting breath until you remember something. I don't even know what pronouns to use with you, and apparently we're getting picky about that now— something about 'cold, not cruel' extending to you lot.
SCP-5926: P-pronouns? I…

I have no clue why this pronoun subplot was introduced, but this seemed a bit shoehorned in.

Cpt. Carter: Same as usual. Nightmares about being shot in the head, and now I'm angry, too. Some weird ghost's possessed something I paid close to two grand for, and it's just… kind of pathetic. Can't even remember what it is.

Those last two sentences are unnecessarily vague and should be re-written. Maybe you "they" instead?

SCP-5926 experiences a brief seizure. Further vocalizations from it almost exactly mimic the vocal patterns of Cpt. Carter; they seem ignorant of this fact, until confronted with this recording following the interview.
SCP-5926: I think I'm a she.

So SCP-5926 has a seizure, Cpt. Carter does nothing, and then everything is fine?

Cpt. Carter reaches over the table and punches off SCP-5926-A's head. It goes limp, and SCP-5926 is heard sobbing. Cpt. Carter was reprimanded for this action.

What's the point in finding out an SCP's preferred personal pronoun if the Foundation isn't even going to use them?

Also, the fact Cpt. Carter does this and has an additional interview really threw me for a loop. I initially thought it was weird for a task force member to be interviewing a scip (especially one with a Conflict-of-Interest), but I think it's even more absurd to have Carter continue interviewing this scip after this.

I still liked it, but I fell out of my suspension of disbelief a few times because of the above. That's the only thing keeping me from giving an upvote.

It's good. I enjoyed the read, and it ended satisfactorily. It wasn't some amazing 11/10 that blew me out of the water, but not everything has to be.

I really liked parts of this article. However, it outright says a lot of things that one could've assumed. I feel like the article loses a lot from that.
