This idea came about as a collab between plaidypus and I. Lots of weird ass conversations about swamp gods and ancient voodoo loas. Who knew it'd birth all this?
Thank you, plaid. Your faith and encouragement pushes me to do more.

I would like to counter by saying that this thing has only happened because MalyceGraves is absolutely tireless and capable of quickly producing large amounts of quality writing to the point that they kinda scare me sometimes. For real, they're a machine. Thank you Malyce <3
Wholeheartedly deserves the Donkman seal of approval, awesome work y'all!
Donkman visiting La Rue Macabre is something I would read the hell out of lol
Gah, this is an astoundingly charming GoI! I really want to contribute, but I'm not even sure where I'd start!
I had a longer comment here but Wikidot ate it :(
There are a lot of little pieces here but none of them unify into a single whole. It comes across as shallow. Instead of being threads dangling from a larger whole it’s a pile of yarn that’s not yet been knitted together.
The pocket dimension for anomalous outcasts territory was already well-covered by Backdoor Soho and 3Ports. While that might not be a fair comparison, even UnderVegas which is another relatively new concept has far more character than this, at least as far as this hub presents.
Atmosphere seems like an amalgamation of Herman Fuller and Southern Fifthists. The characters as described are stock without anything that would make me interested in writing them. I particularly disliked the opening note in the how-to section stating how they want to be friends with everyone. Isn’t this supposed to be a last stop for outcasts?
In fact, is this a group, a location, or somewhere in between? If it’s a city are the locations described its entirety or just what’s been explored so far? All of the descriptions that might really let us get an idea of La Rue Macabre as a place are too brief to be effective. Wasn’t really able to get a good sense of place or of the people.
Perhaps when this group has come into their own more, this hub will have more for me to appreciate. As it stands I can’t say I’m a fan. Perhaps the individual entries will win me over, or at least overcome my initial bias I’ll be going in with after discovering them through this hub.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!

It's less that they're trying to be friends and more that they don't have time for petty infighting. They are very definitely not friends with everyone. If you don't abide by the rules, the consequences are severe. See the tale Swamplight. As for the rest of your points, they're honestly fair. We have things in the works that should differentiate them from the Southern Fifthists as well as making the characters feel more alive.

I'm wondering why you felt this comment was necessary. I understand that hyper-religious regions of the world have some bass-ackwards social views but writing about those regions does not equal condoning their views. If anything, writing about it, even if tangentially via setting for our stories, can be cathartic for people actually living under the yoke of those views. Some pieces even use these setting to provide criticism for those views. Writing off entire regions on the basis of the worst they have to offer just tells the decent there that you don't care about them.
In the end, what you choose to read is your business. Broadcasting your aversions on someone else's work, however, just feels like grandstanding on other regions and cultures.
Regarding the intent of my original message, I was referring to how, in my anecdotal experience, homophobia and transphobia have been intertwined with that specific culture. As a result, I've developed negative associations and am made mildly uncomfortable by Southern culture as a whole.
In retrospect, this is an issue that needs addressing and I'll be taking steps to do that.

This was by no means my intent and I've blanked the above message to reflect that. I support all forms of writing, even when their subject matters make it difficult from me to engage with them.
I apologize for the poor communication on my part.
Very cool idea. Adding GOIs like Fuller and AWCY to the setting really works and it's welcome to have portrayals of Sarkicism that are outside of the binary proto vs neo classification. As very minor criticism it feels like the Cotton Eye Joe character could use a rename, it comes across a bit Colonel Sandersery.
I came here from the Nexus hub and I just wanted to say that as a (non-US) reader it's very unclear where La Rue actually… is?
I'm pretty sure it's in New Orleans, and it's obvious that it's on the Missisippi, but I feel like you should make that clearer because "Decatur Street (next to Jackson Square) onto Morgan" means nothing to me. Saying it's in New Orleans would be really helpful and much more evocative.
NTA, just affirming that this is indeed New Orleans. 100% agree with your point about needing more clarity for folks not familiar.
Is there actually a Morgan connected to Decatur? I didn’t see one last week and believe me I was looking.
As a Louisiana man, I can say there is a Madison street off of Decatur next to Jackson Square, but Morgan street is across the river.
