SCP-048, the cursed SCP number, is now permanently retired from the foundation catalog.
Feel free to mock the long and storied history of this number.

I am deeply amused. My personnel file idea for Thornton suddenly sound much less awesome :p
What sort of objects did 048 used to describe? I'm guessing they were really lame ones like a gun that never runs out of bullets, or an evil animated toy. Maybe they can be used a examples of what not to write?
The ones I can recall are SCP-048-D and an evil ship carrying vampires
Well, this scenario was mentioned in 682's termination logs.
Item: Reclassification to SCP-048
Tissue Test Record: N/A
Termination Log: Denied by O5 Command
Note: While it could potentially give us the result we desire, the possibility of SCP-682 being stolen instead of being destroyed after its reclassification could cause more problems than waiting longer to find an alternative solution to the issue at hand, not to mention the fact that the possibility of losing everyone working with SCP-682 would be a major catastrophe to the foundation. - O5-7
Additionally that assumes the higher-ups are down with officially recognizing 048 as a real phenomenon and not just a workplace superstition.
es cool mon…
maybe connected to East Asian beliefs that the number 4 is an unlucky number.
No, it's based on this East Asian's observation that every SCP numbered SCP-048 has sucked ballz.

Okay, this shit made me laugh out loud. I applaud.
I changed SCP-048 for purposes related to Document-050. This was not necessary, I know, but I have my reason for it. If you wouldn't mind, leave as is until I get around to what I have in mind.
The most recent 048 seems to be a result of infection by 732… is it possible that 048 is the origin of this plague?
Or the reverse, 732 managed to permanently "blot out" 048 in its writing style.
Anytime a number gets retired, they hang a jersey from the rafters. So where would 048's jersey be?
Well, TECHNICALLY, it's not retired, as it seems to have become an SCP in and of itself.
Which raises the question: why hasn't it been destroyed, decommissioned, stolen, or otherwise lost to the Foundation?
Perhaps they should give it a different number. There's no reason it has to be its own designation.
I wanted to upvote this, but it's at +48 as of this posting and I couldn't bring myself to ruin that.
I've read this several times, and I always really want to know… does anyone have a copy of the old "vampyre ship" article? It sounds hilariously terrible.
I don't have a better description, but I do remember some details.
Such as it saying that the vampires faze through walls and " have a habit of being uncontained ".
Does laughing at addendum 2 make me a bad person? This is an amusing one.
No, atleast, I don't think it does. The SCP is somewhat of a Joke SCP.
