Testing the waters for short-form.
This is certainly unique and interesting, and the logic seems to be internal and consistent enough to not be total chaos, but it doesn't resonate with me in any way besides being a format screw.
EDIT: Goddammit, I can't make up my mind on how to vote on this. I'm leaving it as an upvote for now and coming back to it later.
Do I like the concept? Totally. Do I like where this went with it? Not really.
I do hope that you do more with the concept for the contest, though.
Randomini said in chat that it may be reworked into a contest entry, I think. I support that.
I assumed that it's against the rules for users to post their articles before the posting period, just to repost it when the contest posting period comes around.
I don't get it either. But it could be due to the fact that I have no idea what this is:
variable abstract-metaphysical construct pointer
and the language level makes all my dictionaries blush in shame!
No vote for now. Something tells me that if I understand those dratted five words, this might become a stroke of genius.
It looks like it just tells you if something is inside or outside, but everything it points to goes "inside," so the O5s tried to trick it into giving them "transcendence," and then either it lolnoped them or they succeeded and then made it lolnope everyone else. "It" being the ineffable concept of transcendence, not the SCP.
In basic terms, an abstract-metaphysical construct is a Concept. A thing what {exists/could exist/hypothetically exists/is proposed to exist/can be experienced as a state in which something exists/exists as a set of related concepts/you can ask "what if this?" about}.
A variable abstract-metaphysical construct pointer would be a concept that allows you to define a concept. In this case, it defines something as "inside" or as being "inside what has been defined as inside". The anomaly being that this becomes a non-abstract implementation of that definition.
I think I get it, though I do not see the reason for using 682, dr Bright and lolfoundation elements. Maybe there is something I am missing after all? No vote for now.
That 682 is immune to metaphysical manipulation, I think is the point of including it.
They basically put 682 inside itself repeatedly, presumably in an attempt to force 682 to digest itself, or rendering its location "nowhere" with respect to anything but itself, or at least violently turn it inside-out repeatedly. Which eventually stopped working because everything eventually stops working on 682.
I understand this perfectly, of course. But could we have an explanation for all the people who - haha - won't get it?
I mean - I got it straight away. I don't think anyone questions that. But just to help the ones who didn't.
You are SO generous and altruistic, Vilifier…
No, no, just sayin'…
