Image stuff

The first image was taken by me, y'all can use it as you please.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the Alaska image comes from here and is CC BY 3.0. I don't think it matters but the red circle is my own work.

Well, this was interesting. This was partially inspired by Slenderman-esque found footage web series, such as TribeTwelve, Everymanhybrid, and of course, Marble Hornets. There's no Slendermen in this piece but I hope you enjoy regardless

Thanks to Henzoid, Ellie3, Almarduk, Brewsterion 1017, and JackalRelated for looking at this before it went up. If I missed anybody, let me know and I'll add you.

Noting that, for the time being, I have removed the auto playing audio file after some complaints. I would like to reintroduce it sometime in the future in a less intrusive manner.

I have added it in again in a non-intrusive manner.

What the fuck. This is some excellent presentation and it sure-as-shit employs some phenomenal, hair-raising suspense.

ETA: I only wish that you didn't describe "The Child" with it's further history; details like those humanize the already terrifying nature of the scip and sorta ruins the whole spiel.

This is pretty cool :3 It's absolutely the right level of subtle I feel where when you get it, it hits you like a damn train.

+ minor things

I'm gonna second the auto-playing audio in FILE-(3) being ehhhh (it's also inaccessible for deaf folk: I'd suggest including an actual audio widget here to allow folk to pause it, and an optional transcript of the audio).

""Soda,"": it might be a stylistic thing but for me it feels better if the comma is after the " (since the quotation marks feel like they're meant to indicate the name, and the comma isn't part of the name). That said, I believe in American English this is more accepted? So it might just be me?

if the person identifies as male, female, or any nonbinary gender identity respectively.

I get you're trying to be trans inclusive here (woo!) but the usage of "identifies" here kinda implies a level of "isn't actually but says they are"; I'd suggest something like "if the person is male, female or non-binary respectively".

"SCP-4932's was discovered": SCP-4932 was

"for presumably three years without losing function": I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing but I don't get why they think it's been there for 3 years?

Several hollow shells created out steel and concrete can be seen nearby the location of SCP-4932's discovery

It is unknown how the message written in permanent marker written on SCP-4932 managed to survive in these conditions.

double usage of written; "not known" feels a little better than "unknown" here too

Yeah, that's a typo, considering later quotes have the comma outside of the quotation marks.

i liked it! there was a slow buildup that had a pretty good payoff, and i liked the last offset file.

spoilers maybe:

+ show block

so it seems like, uh, "the child" causes things to be taken out of reality? or things it observes have never existed through a gradual fading effect? like how some people knew about johnathan vaugely, like fragments of memories, and others completely forgot about him? also how it mentions how cars would take 3 days to disappear, and the continent took 5 months to disappear and resulted in trillions of gallons of water displacement. overall, i think it was pretty cool, like, having these people whose goal is to figure out how to kill it before it renders all of humanity extinct (tidal action through the moon disappearing, and just general extinction of most life because of the sun extinguishing. one question i have is: are they aware of their effect? i feel like that's the real punch of the article, is that like, they still believe the things they made disappear exist. like, how the phone reveals their view of reality(?) is really cool. satisfying article, i really enjoyed it (also i probably entirely missed the point of the article haha)

Superlative. The gradual, measured buildup led to a very satisfying payoff. I particularly like the effect of the DOS style computer program. It works very well. +1

I'm a sucker for skips that suggest reality is rewritten. I'm even more of a sucker for skips that suggest reality is currently being overwritten.

+1 - although, I don't get the significance of prototype 55 and the lack of description.

I really liked the audio files in the file(3). It gave me chills a little when I first heard it.

Although, now that I've heard it a couple of times, I have some questions/nitpicks about it :

+ show block

- So it repeats a message until it cannot anymore, and it stopped because SCP-4932 was '500 near the broadcaster's current location'. 500 what? Was the unit skipped on purpose?
- It's a little weird that compared to rest of the file, the audio doesn't sound corrupted. And whatever the distance between the broadcaster the scp was, it was dangerous enough to shut down, but had a plenty of time to say the foundation motto before shutting down?
