Special Thanks:
Thank you to Doctor Cimmerian and EldritchCyanide for critiquing this in the Forums, to Zyn for calling attention to it in chat, and to Decibelles for informing me of the actual author of 073 and 076.
While I assume Abe stole from The Serpent's Hand and aped the name of the library they visit, I'm not sure what Cain and Able have to do with this.
Wow. Just wow. Adds so much to SCP-2422. Nice slow reveal, each tab ups the tension just a touch. By the time I got to the main reveal, I was twitching for it.
Now I just want to know what he stole from who.
+1. Excellent tale!
Same here. Brilliant story, I loved it. +1. Have you made anything else like this? I'd like to see more.
I feel like the authors notes at the end belong in the discussion, they kind of brought me out of the tale. I like it, but it didn't light my world on fire. Neutral vote for now, may upvote upon a reread.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
Thank you so much!
I've moved the information into the discussion. I originally intended for the email to be the hub and to have each document on a separate page, which is why it was there.
It just got better and better with every tab. I wasn't even that big on 2422, but this almost changes my mind.
+1 Loved the tale and how you handled it with the multiple email and writing form.
Would be nice to see SCP-2422-D decommissioning… maybe a Clef interview(due to his anti bender abilities)
Thank you so much!
Considering 2422-D appears to be autistic to those without this information, I would assume without his anomalous properties on his side he would just shut down and become noncommunicative. It's interesting to think how he would react outside of that, though.
This is fantastic. Over Thinking, I don't know what else you've contributed to the site, but know that I expect great things from you.
Very rarely does it add something to explain where the anomalous effects of a SCP come from, or just there origins in general, and thats neither bad or good but just how its done. This is what I'd consider a very rare but shining example of a great origin story for a SCP. Great work, couple grammar mistakes, but nobody's perfect. +1 cuz You da man
This really needs to be linked from the 2422 article somehow because it is fantastic and fucking creepy and very well-written.
There are a few typos, though, some of which I'm going to fix.
if your reading this your gay
A great read, well written. A whole slew of emotions captured very proficiently. I thought that 2422 was pretty bland but I now feel differently.
My only criticism is that it seems odd that Abe gave them their SCP designations. Even if he's Foundation, I feel it would be unlikely that he would accurately foresee the precise designation they would end up being given, unless I'm missing something.
In the main article under acquisitions, it says that when they came to the gate, they refered to themselves as their numerical designation. So I think that is the author of this tales way of going about that. I mean, if you have an empty slot and someone says "hey, I'm this slot!" Then why not? Although the foundation could just screw with them and put them in a new number… Hard to say.
That was exactly my intention and reasoning (both in the tale and in the article itself), except in my mind, the Foundation going along with it was less of a "why not" than a "since we know nothing about these people, less friction is better until we can figure out what they're capable of" on their part.
