This is a nice little atmospheric piece about loneliness - and I really have to disagree completely with Drelic here, as the ambiguity of whether an entity actually exists or not is really the main centerpiece of the article here. Changing things from that strong central image to a very clear 'infinite space with a spooky entity' story would completely flip my opinion on this around, personally.
Plus, the very specific nature of the sensations of 'suffocation' and 'fear of abandonment' do lend to the interpretation of something anomalous going on here, at least - as well as the fact that everyone who goes into the basement alone comes to this same conclusion.
The interview is fantastic here - we go from wanting some interaction with the entity to a nice realization that this log is probably saying more about the researcher than anything else. That little line of 'the last to follow a set format' is a nice inclusion too - if I'm understanding that right, the implication is that following 'interviews' are much less coherent?
There's a real feeling that this article is just scraping the sides of a much bigger story, but I think that's ultimately to its benefit. It comes in, gives us something to wonder about, and moves on. +1
