but do they have printers that eat, eaters that print, and everything in between?
pastarasta1 is quick-talking and often scheming
Overall I really like this, though a couple caveats:
1. I'm not sure the incident described warrants the keter designation, if all it takes to prevent that is keep the colony small.
2. The bit about using it as trash disposal rubs me the wrong way, I'm not a big fan of casual use of SCPs for convenience
3. The language strays a bit away from the clinical tone when describing their escape attempt
+1
A few things that break my suspension of disbelief.
1. These spiders are indigenous to three continents and reproduce rapidly. Seems likely someone would have seen them.
2. Is it really that easy to count a population of spiders to know that there were just over one million? And why does that cause this new behavior?
3. What exactly is "arachnid-based weaponry"? That phrase completely breaks the clinical tone for me.
1. They did notice, that's how the foundation found out about them and got them all into containment. Could probably have done something with that but meh.
2. I'd say it's based on calculations of how quickly the reproduce and how long they've been in containment. The foundation doesn't have an exact number, but they can approximate it. It's also why after the incident they decided to restrict populations to 500,000, as that would give a significant amount of leeway before things got bad. As for why they started doing that at 1,000,000, I have no idea. Anomalous shenanigans or hive mind smarts or something.
3. Oh you know, guns that shoot spiders, whips made of a bunch of spiders strung together, whips made of spiders covered in guns that shoot spiders, silkswords, missile that explode into spiders, giant spiderlaser cannons, etc. Maybe even smaller spiderbots. Just all the spider weapons. All of them.
if this was reddit i would link r/angryupvote arachnid based weaponry really got me
also in your above post spiderlaser cannon is just amazing and i want one
I am not an official reviewer so take what I say with a grain of salt! This is more of a "what feels wrong with this article and where can it be improved?"
I like the concept, but I feel like it was developed the wrong way/didn't explore everything.
Currently a no-vote
EDIT: Upon rereading the article, my above points are still valid. The article feels like it explores a bit in one direction before exploring something else/going in a different direction, and it does this multiple times. This gives the impression that the article has lots to explore and can be deep, but stays in the shallows which harms the overall quality. Deeply exploring two or three of these points would have been much better than the many "potentials" hinted at in the article. Some people might like this "quantity over quality" article, but to me the wasted potential is too painfully obvious.
I'm changing from no-vote to -1.
I just noticed that the foundation logo is upside-down. Nice.
EDIT: Along with the Protect. Secure. Contain. I swear there's something new every time I check the page.
Other than that, this is a great example of a short and funny scip and is a great addition to the site. nice job!
