My arm has refashioned itself into a wide, squat cannon. My fingers have splayed out along the edge into curved panels, sandwiching a silver barrel. Fins along my arm have popped open, and the underside of my arm has pushed itself downwards into a stock. My thumb has slid back halfway along the arm to the elbow. Six inches of dark black steel are poking from the top — likely those arm blades Alliott mentioned. It's one part musket, one part bayonet.

So do you just pump these out during a session or do you got these in backlog and release them slowly over time. Cause this series is really good thus far and they come out often.

(Also nice tale, I love the writing.)

I did not expect this to take a 180 like that. I was thinking at first that the flashbacks would read better if they were interspersed between the other entries for pacing reasons, but this article is much better with the direct context.

Even if I like this, I lowkey wish there weren't three tales worth of exposition (very good tales, mind you, but still exposition) in a row; I feel like if the first one was set right after Rookie loses her heart and then the rest two relatively spaced out to give us the rest of the context it would work much better, but even then, hell yes, this rocks. Enthusiastic upvote.

Great stuff about the lengths people will go to in order to avoid being hurt. For a series pretty much defined by the word "panache," the shift into the violence, both physical and emotional, being ill-conceived, awkward, rushed, and thoughtless hit extra-hard.

Definitely flipped my expectations regarding the whole "heart" situation mentioned at the start of the series.

Kind of agree with Ralliston about the spacing of the tales, but that's not a knock against the story itself.

Things appear to be… heating up.

Or they were heated up. Flashbacks and all.

+1 for the good writing, though the flashback chapters are starting to get more frequent than I'd like.
