First, I am seriously indebted to Light for The Flytrap and Bright for Ecce Perago and Annon, without which this tale would not exist.

Thank you also to:

• Clef for an absolutely incredible amount of editing and improvements — just, holy shit. Clef did an unbelievable amount of work on this.
• TroyL for a ton of concepts for the O5 Council, many of which I used here: in particular the concepts/characters for One & Three [partially], Eight, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Lament, and the final scene.
• Light for practically writing Five's scene, concepts/characters for Five and Seven, and helping inspire the entire story.
• DrMann for practically writing the first half of Four's scene, also Four's concept. Also a lot of improvement on One's scene, and much of One's concept/character.
• Bright for the concepts/characters for One (partially), Three (partially), Six, the original Nine, and Thirteen. Plus inspiring Ten, Eleven, and Twelve, and helping inspire the entire story.
• Photosynthetic for Nine's concept/character and scene.
• Kestin for a lot of very helpful critique.
• …and a ton of other people for a lot of very helpful critique.
• …and a ton of other people whose concepts I ripped off homaged/referenced/used in this.

Fun fact: each scene in this tale was originally two to five times longer, with most of the same content. Bright pointed out it was bloated, and Clef did the lion's share of the editing. <3

… I may very well be imagining this, but I distinctly remember inventing the buttersquirrels when I GMed in the Tamlin House RP. They eat shoes.

But this tale doesn't focus on what I really think are the cool parts of Resurrection,and maybe I'm taking the wrong thing away from this, but I would have preferred to read something overall less melodramatic.

And the ending kind of felt like an ass pull.

Yep, they are directly from the RP's notes. I liked the detail, so I stole it, but I didn't realize that you'd created them.

I'm sorry the tale didn't work for you, though.

Regarding the ending:

A lot of the way it's constructed relates to Council dynamics that I tried to imply more than directly state. I didn't want to make everything too on the nose in the story. And also, length was a concern. But if it didn't come across for you, it didn't come across.

I hope it works for others.

Really, just awesome. Lots of cool little mini-stories, all tied into a long, suspenseful arc, and with how things have gone with responses to the Resurrection series, I felt that the ending could have truly gone either way.

Well written, to say the least. A good ending to this section of the series, leaving the audience ready and eager for the next season to start up.

This is exactly how I would view the O5 council voting, even if the characters do not match my headcanon. Great tale overall.

I've seen some crazy lineups for the Council, but this one's a real standout. In particular, I like Eight, which is a shame, since by coming first, he overshadows Nine, who I also liked quite a lot. Thirteen was kind of ridiculous, but then Scantron reminded me where the name comes from, so I'm rather agog. The final scene is great, tense diplomacy is always exciting when written well.

Imma fix a couple things.

This… Was pretty disappointing.

I liked the characterizations of the O5 for the most part, but I got the sense that the whole point of this article was mounting tension going up to the vote.

Then the vote comes, and doesn't pass… Then 10 stands up for what I'm assuming was to be a passionate speech that turns the tide! Instead she rattles off a (frankly) unconvincing speech, and the powerful, wise council who I would have hoped put SOME thought behind their original votes basically says "eh, ok". All this build up for that?

edit: was wrong about how long her speech was, but I still think it's bland and unconvincing. It doesn't address much of the concerns the naysayers made, from my reading.

Correct, it doesn't. One and Twelve even point that out.

Part of this was that I didn't want to make it longer. This won't necessarily help this work for you, but I'll write it out what politically happened anyway in case you're curious:

One wanted to abstain in the first place. But Ten didn't sufficiently defend Alpha-9 to his liking, and she didn't say anything. One couldn't see the point of standing by and letting the experiment unfold when Ten, its biggest backer, seemed to have given up championing it.

When she did break silence, and made an argument, One decided to abstain. It helped that it would've been politically better for her to apologize and back off to avoid censure, but she didn't. (She took a leap of faith.)

Six was already ambivalent, and felt similarly to One, and also felt One's opinion was worth taking into account, so he changed to abstain as well (One's vote had swayed him to the Nays in the first place).

And Seven is… Seven. She was already helping Alpha-9, despite her initial Nay vote. So she was willing to change her vote to Support once One and Six had sent a message that it was tactically viable to do so.

At that point, Alpha-9 passed. The rest was just Eight fucking up. And it STILL doesn't pass with a majority 7 votes.

I've added a couple cut lines back in to indicate that Ten didn't say very much until her mini-speech, because I see that they're necessary. (That doesn't necessarily fix it for everyone, mind you.)

First of all: does this make The Flytrap canon to Resurrection? Or are you just linking it for the character concepts? Second, I don't think I quite understand who 963-2 is?

963-2 comes from two of TheDuckman's tales. He was the last O5-9, who tried to become immortal and ended up as a save scummer.

I wanted to leave its canonicity to Resurrection ambiguous.

The Flytrap informs this tale down to its bones, though. I would say all of the content of the Flytrap is certainly canon to Resurrection, whether or not the actual events are.
