And we conclude this little diversion into fluff.
EDIT: Fixed a small error.
As one who arrived at the party long after decommissions and shenanigans and Pandora's Box had been done away with, I must say it's pretty cool to see this half-meta "let's do it again but better" storyline unfold in real time.
*Squints* I wonder, who's this Allison Chau?
Edit: so that's why searching "chau" returned no results.
Oh, I don't know... Probably no one important, I'm sure.
until I saw this, and went back and found that hidden text!
I'd like to point out that this tale doesn't actually show up in the hub. There's no link to it, just black normal boring text. :l
EDIT: Also,
… following them was probably been a mistake, but
That's supposed to be "had probably been", right?
This one was the most fun of the three pieces in my opinion. I still think the middle piece was too much set-up that didn't do anything special, but that hits the hardest when you have to wait for the third part to come out. I think if I were to read them again in one go, the second part wouldn't be as bad. Anyways, +1 for this one.
+1'd the moment Spider was confirmed to be the "Asian chick" from Pt. II.
Got to the end, wanted to upvote again.
BTW, one small error:
The site was switching to Day Shift when the security guard closed the door of her containment door behind her. Iris collapsed onto her bed, not even bothering to take off her clothes.
I think you meant "Cell" for the second "Door".
Foundation doors have tiny doors inside them.
For added protection.
Wait, what?
Since when did the GOC become wizards?
Not complaining, just.. when?
I'm still upvoting, but I don't remember the friggin GOC becoming Hogwarts.
Have a boy!
"The GOC was created in the aftermath of WWII, from the remnants of defecting occultists, psychics, priests, and scientists from Nazi, Soviet, and Allied states, brought together and formed by the Allies."
Pretty much has always been there, just made it a bit more blatant. What the GOC actually does is "Applied Thaumatology," which is basic magical theory applied scientifically through technology.
Now I feel like a bloody goof.
Thanks for clearing that up, I always just saw the GOC as like, the military from the Iron Giant- a military group that attacks anomalies not because they have to, but they are afraid of them.
Have a boy!
Wasn't GOC allied with Foundation or was that like temporary?
Sorry to necro; but the Global Occult Coalition maintained a "neutrality" policy with the Foundation.
I put "neutrality" in quotation marks because these agreements have been iffy and GOC operatives have been involved in questionable incidents which have interfered with Foundation operations.
This can't really last b/c the GOC is starting to raise an eyebrow at the Foundation, as mentioned in the tale, reactivating it's Special Assault Force (Alpha-9, a more refined Omega-7 successor).
I'm not sure, but is there any reason to think that "Game Day" is canon for "Resurrection"?
Anyway, the two groups have as much in common as they have differences and therefore writers will often have them cooperative, nearly as often, probably, as they are opposed. In this story there's more of a cold war thing going on.
At first I was wondering: Why would Coalition classify Iris as threat level 3?
The there was revealed that GOC knew about A-9 so it kinda makes sense.
Love that references to all other tales, decoms, J's, even GOC casefiles.
Can't upvote hard enought…
