To start off, let me express thank you to all who had the pleasure (or displeasure) of reviewing this article in its various phases as a draft.

As for the pictures involved:

The Foundation precursor "Tsar's Seers" is credited to Agent MacLeod (mentioned in SCP-2237, which he plans to rewrite), although I took my personal liberties while writing this precursor.

So what actually happened?

The entity can only be summoned by an "absolutist Tsar", so GRU-P conditioned Ivanoff into the role of an absolute monarch. After "crowning" him, they incapacitate him and finished up on the machine.

P.S. They can't bring a real Romanov. That would cause quite a scandal (and purging).

So why was the place abandoned?

I would say, it was ultimately outdated. It could only be used against foreign armies within the USSR, and is useless for internal policing. Furthermore, I would imagine political implications over using an entity that vows allegiance to the Tsar.

But what happened to the Seers? Can the Tsar use the skip on his own?

The Tsar is necessary (or rather, his "divine right"), but the Seers know the mechanics behind it. From my headcanon, the Seers declined since the Napoleonic War with many members in exile or arrested by Russian authorities (they would be regarded lowly by the nobility). By WWI, the Seers were virtually no more save a few individuals who knew bits of the lore.

Is Alexei meant to be that Alexei? EDIT: I am dumb. Still, that'd be cool.

This is fucking awesome. I really love how all-in you went on this, making this a living and breathing thing to care about and how vibrant this skip is. I love the mention of Tsar's Seers in here, as well as GRU-P's role in the whole thing. Excellent job.

I'm afraid not. "Alexei" refers to the real-life Tsarevich Alexei. In any case, "Alexei" is really Ivanoff who is deluded into becoming Alexei.

I originally wanted to use Anastasia as the CPU, as a reference to rumours of her surviving her family's murders.

But as I dig deeper, I've realised the following:

• Salic law, so no women allowed on throne.
• There were Alexei imposters too.
• Why bother with real royalty when you can condition some random bloke into the role?

From my headcanon, the use of a Romanov imposter was an ideological victory for GRU-P as well. They basically cheated and warped the concept of "divine right" to their ends.

Holy crap, this is literally General Winter, and that's so, so cool.

One niggling little problem, though- the use of the verb 'morphed' in the first addendum throws me right out of the 'Russian Legend' atmosphere you've got going. Feels anachronistic.

Has a few rough spots in the writing, but nothing awful. Upvoted for "It wishes to regain the favour of God, and we wish for protection. It's a mutual agreement."

A minor nitpick: the design work for the AK-47 didn't start until 1945, and it wasn't introduced until 1947. A bit anachronistic to have it appear in 1942. Otherwise, I liked it. Weapons firing ice spikes tickles me in just the right way.

Checking Wikipedia, you're correct. I've changed it to MP 40, which was used by Germany then. However, the Soviets did capture German equipment and used them during the Eastern Front nonetheless.

The PPSh-41 will definitely be among the 2617-B instances, without a doubt. However, I have already included the PPD-40 and I don't think we need another Soviet submachine gun.

Nah, it's not that Ivan. Glad someone finally got the reference (or at least acknowledge it here). I watched that series and was influenced by it enough to throw in an easter egg.

Show Reasoning

Crosslink was suggested by the author for the following reason:

I would imagine this to be something similar to SCP-2273, which ended up in Russia and this implied that it was applied as a weapon of the Russians. I suppose a crosslink can provide a cut Easter egg, since MacLeod (2273's author) originally planned for two instances (an American and a Russian) before only leaving the Russian instance as Alexei.

Editing this:

Resembles a powered exoskeleton of unknown origin, with design elements derivative of insects. Corresponds to no known weapons currently fielded by Russian Armed Force.
