Wouldn't he have said "tetrahedral" instead of "pyramidal", seeing as the shape he described is the tetrahedron, rather than the square-based, five-verticed, five-sided pyramid? Seriously, that one detail absolutely ruined the entire story for me. Downvote.

OMG I am so kidding, I love Xyank and 2700 and all the crazy, end-of-the-world physics that is barely kept from obliterating reality through sheer luck and the skin of their teeth.

Anyway, I was just trying to be helpful.

I was re-reading this as part of my refresher for the upcoming temporal anomalies tale I'm writing, and I realized suddenly where this fit. Chuck Anborough is coming to Xyank im the Wild West days of the Temporal Anomalies department. When XACTS were new. And yet, I see in it inspiration for the XACTS Mk II's causal isolation protocol, which wouldn't be formalized until so much later.

This is why I love this community. We constantly feed on one another's ideas and creativity to sculpt a universe of absolute madness which, nevertheless, continues to pass the verisimilitude sniff test. We conjure the phantasmagorical together in a mad rush of artistic fury, and each in our turn breathe life into ever deepening esoterica.

… And I just think that's fucking beautiful.
