I can feel it, an im digging it. The potential is practially oozing from it. In conclusion, i like it and upvoted
You know that cool thing where you upvote a piece on this site and the rating goes up by more than one because someone upvoted in the time between you opening the page and voting on it? I've been getting that a lot lately. It's pretty cool.
Anyways, this is also cool.
Speaking as someone who practically deluged the author with line edits a couple drafts ago… this is so damn good.
Fatima Workwise is a fuckin cool name and also this tale was really good.
I can't help but wonder when we're gonna get to Alpha-9 actually in action, though. I mean, I'm not impatient, but we have a deluge of preliminary material, and going off the general rule of thumb that there will be somewhat more material in the body of a work than in the introduction, it seems like a tall order.

This has been on my mind too… so I'll give some of my thoughts.
The introductory stuff is, essentially, Act 1. Act 1 ends (but can still be contributed to) once all the initial major players are introduced.
You still have a point, though. Basically what's happened is that when planning this, I did not anticipate the deluge of interest and the amount of excellent material people wished to create for it. As a side effect, there IS rather a lot of Introduction stuff.
That said… we at least have conceptualized a whole lot more stuff, of which what you see here is only a small fraction. We'll see how it works out in practice.
Alpha-9 should be officially debuting this coming week.
This is a direct buildup to the recruiting of Alpha-9 agents, which should build nicely into actual deployments. I know we have people working on more actiony type stuff now (if you don't understand why I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable doing action-type combat scenes, you may have never read the pacing mess that is the latter half of Wayward Prince), and I wanted to get this out before moving on with Maria stuff.
Well, you're right about me not reading past, like, the first or second part of Wayward Prince.
And all I'm looking for is reassurance that there will be enough Alpha-9 material to make the series not feel lopsided, which is what moose has done. So I'm set.

Interesting in theory, but it feels like a chore for me to personally get through. I'm always a fan of more Maria, but Bright's presence in this tale feels so distracting that at a few points in the tale (particularly that NBC line, as much as I find it rather cool), I wonder if you could replace Bright with an administrator, or an O5, and not make a difference. And above all… it just didn't interest me.
Maria stared at the closed door for two full minutes, then groped around the desk, feeling for her glass. Without looking, she grabbed it and threw the rest of the drink back in one swallow. She collapsed into her chair, soundless tears streaming down her face.
From this point on, I felt hard-pressed to even care, and from the following point on:
"You know, I hate that when other people do that," the voice on the other end replied.
I just can't see why this is something to need. It feels so goddamn drawn out, and superfluous. If its only purpose is set-up, it feels too forced in, and it shows. As well-written as it is, it's too long and not interesting enough to justify the length for me to personally care.
For the record, Bright was, in fact, originally just a placeholder for "staff person that Maria could yell at". He stayed in when it became apparent that Bright did, in fact, fit the perfect slot for that role (highly-ranked enough to have some responsibility for Omega-7 and Alpha-9, also highly-ranked enough not to feel threatened by Maria's drunken ranting).
Sorry you weren't a fan; I can see how the raw charactsturbation1 wouldn't be for everyone.
Is the Alexandra mentioned by -10 Lurk's AIAD Alexandra?
I'm a fairly new member here and forgot to leave an edit note, so for posterity's sake I'm saying here that I made some extremely minor grammar fixes just now and can specify exactly what if anyone needs to know.
Loved the tale, btw. This first read-through of this canon has been great so far.
In response to some comments above - I really liked the Wayward Prince. I think it's my favourite tale on here. The ending where you choose not to tell us a specific piece of information has stuck with me since. The pacing was fine and I think Eskobar you should do more actiony things.
