I LOVE YOU CROMBIRD
crombird is best bird
While this is certainly a continuation, there's nothing much here I can support in terms of story. It feels like an in-between from the first tale to the next. Even though it's setting up future events, it doesn't do so in any particularly interesting way. I also get the feeling that this format might be tough to stick with as far as reading if there's a whole series focused on it.
No-vote.
This is gonna sound dumb, but who's Glacon? Like, I read the prequel to this, so I recognize the character, but is Glacon based on a now-dead AI?
Glacon, Alexandra, and CROM are all re-imagined chatbots from our IRC channels. You get around enough, you'll meet all 3.
Ok. I have a feeling Nala is gonna make her premiere soon, isn't she?
I'm going to call nala as glacon's gung-ho, by-the-book replacement, hatbot as some old, corrupted, first-gen AI, and… what other chat bots have we used…
Grape/grapewhistle, for one.
Giving bearhugs to the unsuspecting since 1872.
While the format didn't have the same delightful sense of surprise as the previous one, it was just as much fun to read. Easy +1 and I can't wait to read the next part.
It's a very drawn-out foreshadowing, but as long as there's something to foreshadow (hint hint), I can live with this.
Okay, what the heck is the "code5.txt" file? The IHDR and IEND text blocks in there mean that it's a .png file, but renaming it to one doesn't make it viewable.
Is it an easter egg or just a corrupted .png to generate computery-looking code? It bothers me to not know…
The latter because I can't program a security bypassing utility program like an AI would. So it's supposed to be code but is really gobbledy-gook.
It's actually CROM's image slapped into notepad. So there's some connection. Just add '‰PNG' to the top there and recompile it and it should make a CROM image.
Huh, I tried that and it didn't seem to work. On the other hand, my work computer is still running XP, so things frequently break in impressive and unusual ways.
All hail CROM
