Several years ago, I did my own proposed version of an MTF equipment list. Looking back, I didn't know as much about weaponry as I do now, so it had weird stuff like the MTFs using tommy guns.

Anyway, here's an updated version. Now, I'm well aware that actual MTFs use varying equipment depending on what they’re doing, and some use unique firearms that aren’t listed here. Some might not even need firearms or explosives at all. I’m not quite sure on the official existence of MTF Epsilon-5, so I’m not including any equipment they might use.

This is for infantry equipment, mind you, as most MTFs aren't packing artillery and air support 24/7, unless they're structured and built like a conventional military unit.

Service Pistols:

• Beretta M9A3 (9x19mm Parabellum). Significantly updated variant of the M9 that is already standard-issue for most Foundation personnel.
• Glock 19 (9x19mm Parabellum). Extremely common worldwide, so it won't draw too much attention.

Submachine Gun:

• FN P90 TR (5.7x28mm). Chosen for good armor-piercing qualities, usually given to guards and agents unless heavier stuff is needed.
• HK MP5-N (9x19mm Parabellum). Still in use because it can be suppressed, and it's widely used worldwide. Particularly useful if the MTF is masquerading as a SWAT team.

Service Rifle: M4A1 Carbine (5.56x45mm NATO). A familiar design that's readily available and easily modular.

Designated Marksman Rifle: Mk 14 EBR (7.62x51mm NATO). A good platform, with nice sights.

Sniper Rifles:

• AWM (.338 Lapua)
• Barrett M82A1 (.50 BMG)

Combat Shotgun: M1014 (12 gauge).

Machine Guns:

• M249 Para (5.56x45mm NATO). Lighter to handle than the original SAW.
• M240B (7.62x51mm NATO)
• Browning M2HB (.50 BMG)
• Gau-19 (.50 BMG). Always have more dakka handy. Always.

Mortars:

• M224 (60mm)
• M252 (81mm)
• M120 (120mm)

Explosives:

• M67 hand grenade
• M18 smoke grenade
• M84 Flashbang
• M112 Demolition Charge
• M1A2 Bangalore torpedo
• Molotov cocktail

Grenade Launchers:

• XM25 (25x40mm). Used by MTF Psi-7.
• M203A1 (40x46mm)
• Milkor MGL-140 (40x46mm). If you need a longer ranger than the M203 and better capacity, turn to this one.
• Mk 19 (40x53mm). Yes, a fully automatic grenade launcher. It's also a total pain to clean. Still highly effective.

Infantry anti-tank:

• M72 LAW (66mm)
• M136 AT4 (84mm)
• M3 MAAWS (84x246mmR). Otherwise known as the Carl Gustav recoilless rifle.
• BGM-71D TOW

Anti-air:

• Bofors L/70 (40x365mmR). The best autocannon ever. In a pinch, you can use this in an anti-personnel role.
• FIM-92E Stinger

Close Quarters:
(Although I'd imagine all the MTFs can have their own melee weapons, depending on what they're doing.)

• M9 bayonet. Well, if you insist, sure, you can bring it into battle. Otherwise it's mainly a utility knife nowadays.
• Ka-Bar Fighting Utility Knife

They'd want more SMGs and Pistols. With the most common round being a 9mm and most random shootings being with pistols, you want a weapon that won't attract attention.

In that case, Glock 19s and HK MP5-Ns would work. Those are very widely used in military and law enforcement already.

I'd imagine they'd use the existing weaponry of whatever nation's army they're assigned as a cover story at the moment. seems like having a specific loadout is a recipe for conspiracy theory leaks but i guess most normal people need to be familiar with a set weapon repertoire to function effectively????

Well, I got most of this from previous SCPs that mention weapons (usually just the M9 being mentioned as a sidearm).

It's definitely not out of the question for them to use existing weaponry. The stuff I put down here is already fairly widespread around the world, and most people would be familiar with the platforms. I just think it would be logistically easy for the Foundation have a set of standardized equipment, so they don't have to deal with 60+ rifle calibers in service or something.

Just gonna slide in a couple of things here.

The M-1014 is Semi-Auto only, there is no pump action. Though, the SPAS-12 is both semi and pump.

The newer Milkor MGL-140 has been designated M-32A1, and the older one M-32. Not sure if that helps at all.

The AT4 is kinda not needed if the Carl Gustav is available, a better choice might be the M72 LAW for its lightweight and small size.

Didn't wanna nitpick too much. Let me know if you need any more ideas.

In SCP: Secret Lab there's a thing called the micro which I am certain doesn't exist IRL and I was wondering if there were made up weapons that the foundation uses.

This feels like a really US-centric list. I mean, you've got some European stuff, but as far as I can see¹ almost everything on it is either adopted by the US military or has made it into pop culture. I mean, that's fine, it's just kinda boring.

(Also, if these showed up in articles before, it's probably just because the majority of authors are American and/or consume the same movies and video games.)

For some things that might be narratively interesting² or at least just are a little crunchier…

… in days past, it would definitely have made sense to have standard lists for both NATO and Warsaw Pact ammo types. That's probably still true for a lot of counties, at least as far a having an AK-compatible-type goes. If you want a compromise between standardization and secrecy, nowadays, agents in China might use the QBZ-97 export family rifles/LSW that take 5.56 in STANAG mags, maybe with modifications to take standard Foundation attachments. Ditto, you could imagine Type 92- or Grach-appearing 9mm pistols for agents in police cover, modified to take Foundation Glock mags and accessories.

Maybe the Foundation needs specific calibers for some weird purpose, like never having the number 7 on anything in a Site.

Maybe you use the P90 worldwide for internal security for its intended purpose: A PDW designed for unskilled users that shares ammo with a FN Five-seveN pistol. Then in your Incursion/When Day Breaks type apocalypse, the people trapped in your Sites have some flexibility. (Assuming the Foundation is made of money.)

That's before you even get into the fun sci-fi stuff: near-future-tech caseless/frangible cartridges that aren't garbage and don't leave evidence, weird fancy multiple caliber guns that are more flexible than in real life for agents who could be dropped anywhere including other dimensions, memetic projector weapons/attachments for nonlethal takedowns or counter-sniping, optics with cog-haz filters/blinders or built-in Kant counters, amnestic gas grenades, XACTS- and SRA-based stuff, spelleater rounds, banishment grenades… the sky is kinda the limit.

Honestly, I've noticed. I'm aware that it's very US-centric for that aforementioned reason. Thanks for providing the input, by the way.

I'm still debating if I could put some really special stuff on, too. The thing is that the Foundation has to be prepared for anything, and that's the broadest damn scope you can cover.

The intention of the list was to only look at conventional armaments that are readily available. I was thinking for the stuff you said, that's up for the unique requirements of each MTF.

I'm an armorer for defense contracting organizations IRL so this is my real life job. Just a couple of thoughts:

The GAU-19 is a beautiful design but heavy and has a drastically limited ammo count compared to the M134D, which is the far more ubiquitous of the two. The 134 can be mounted more flexibly and uses the far more common linked 7.62mm Nato round shared with the M60 and other notable LMGs. It can be adapted to more flex fire platforms and also sees far more international use (I've been certified for maintenance on both platforms).

The HK GMG is often preferred as more reliable to the Mk. 19.

The M4A1 is an outdated design at this point, with many users having switched to the HK416 for increased reliability and ease or maintenance, or an advanced M4 platform such as the Mk. 18 or th much more recentURG-I platform built by Geissele and adopted by USASOC (I have one of these on my AR and it's greatly improved in terms of handling and recoil. Also is quick attach for a suppressor which I imagine MTFs would find very useful)

Likewise, the M14 is very dated as a DMR. More commonly you'll see the SCAR Mk. 20, SR 25, HK 417, etc. The new Desert Tech MDRs would be a cool technologically advanced example for th Foundation if you wanted to go that way.

The AWM has never seen particularly widespread use but makes sense for regional use such as the UK, Candace, and Ireland.

I imagine a number of unconventional large game rifles would be kept on hand for particularly large animal like SCPs, such as a .45-70 lever action or .50 Beowulf semi automatic. I also imagine they would prioritize armor piercing capabilities and ammo, and perhaps even specialized munitions such as tungsten shotgun pellets.

I also see them creating a number of specialized Stealth weapons in the vein of the OSS in WWII.

Just chiming in but iv always thought that the foundation would not have a standardized weapon since they are world wide and try to blend in. Im former US military and i think that NATO SCP agents would have at least some common weapons IE 5.56. I dont see US agents moving past the M4, as much shit as it gets its still works. UK forces already use the LMT MRP rifles so UK agents could use those to blend in. The only standardized weapon I can see across all NATO agents is a DMR Im thinking an LMT MWS since its accurate, cost less then both the SCAR and the HK417 and has been combat proven for almost 10 years.

Alright, honestly, I think this whole exercise has been rather pointless in hindsight.

As several of you pointed out, not all MTFs depend on firearms, and the Foundation has to be prepared for anything, as well as blending in.

Most likely MTFs armed in a modern military fashion would use whatever weapons are common in the countries they operate in, and this extends to most Foundation personnel too. And making a list of any kind would have to seriously account for the "cool sci-fi" stuff pointed out by Petrograd, or the unique big-caliber rounds as pointed out by oniman7.

Hypothetically, Brazilian MTFs would use FALs, American MTFs would use M4A1s, Cuban MTFs would use AKMs or vz.58s, South Korean MTFs would use Daewoo K2s, Senegalese MTFs would use M16A2s, and Czech MTFs CZ BREN 2s. MTFs operating in countries that use 9mm in their service pistols would use the M9A3.

I'm pretty sure the Chaos Insurgency would operate the exact same way, although more likely they get weapons off the black market, as we don't know how strong their ties to a lot of governments are.
