Lying at my feet I see the offering you bring
The mark of Cain is on our faces, borne of suffering
O, I long to hear you say it's not been wrong
I stand before you now, a riddle in my song
The answer is that sweet refrain
Unheard it always will remain
Beyond our reach, beyond our gainKansas — "The Pinnacle"
This one's a few hours early, but it's Monday somewhere in the world. Here's the hub for this series, along with a little epilogue — Pietrykau's comments will start making a lot more sense as the remaining tales arrive, trust me. Now that the hub's up, the title of this series has also been revealed, continuing on with the well established bird motif of Third Law and Twisted Pines. If you haven't already figured out who the Phoenix, Nightingale, and Magpies are, you will soon. Probably.
