Our popularity is dropping?
Perhaps that's not such a bad thing… less spammer attacks, and more obscurity to the site. I mean, as long as we're not at zero, but I definitely don't want to see us trying to promote the site, that would just be too weird. Unless by promoting you mean copying+pasting some article into a random chan board. that'd be okay.
I'm sorry, who are you again? What are your contributions? Who are you to criticize us?
I agree with Duckodillian here. We don't need more wackjobs coming in here mussing up our concerted efforts at collaborative fiction. We should be seeking out talented and committed people, not courting every gawking internetophile who wants to vomit pseudo-creative fanfiction on us.

I wrote 2 SCPs on this site, significantly contributed to 2 more, and contributed in small ways to countless others (not under this username, though). But yeah, enjoy your closed-minded elitism. That's the way to kill a community.
Our average edit count has halved in the past month. Do you think this is a good thing? Many people visit this site, many leave, a few become long-term editors. If we cut off all our sources of new editors, who will replace those who decide to leave the site? I really like this project, and I don't like where it seems to be going right now. That's why I'm trying to help.

To be completely honest, I don't see the site popularity falling, either. I see an abnormal spike and then a return to the status quo.
Ditto. It ended where it began. Also, I have found no such close-minded elitism here, and I've only been here for what…a few weeks? Me and my SCPs and ideas have been accepted with open arms. I found the SCP Foundation, they didn't find me.
Seriously? I find it so much better with a smaller group of people. I never want to have so many researchers that we can't keep co-ordinated.

I understand your zeal and motivation, as well as to what you're saying, but you don't need to bite the poor fellows head off just to make a point.
That said, I think we'll go where ever the internet takes us. Who cares if we're popular? Hell, I write most of my things because I want to, not for recognition (although that is freaking sweet when it happens).
Besides, if "wackjobs" do come in and start mussing things up, we'll deal with it the way we've always dealt with it. By either helping to make it better and fit in, or kill it in a hilarious manner.
And if you're in a bad mood, deal with it the way the rest of us do. Getting drunk and beating up some randomer at your local pub, like a real operative. (Sorry, Irish joke)

Granted, if we realy do want popularity, then we can find people individually. Find good writers, people who are literate and good at this creative stuff…I know a few who've been looking for an outlet for their weird and scary ideas.
Seeing how the subject is breached, let's not forget how closed-minded elitism REALLY KILLED 4chan. Man, that place is just a couple of threads a week and five people. Right? Right?

That made me laugh so hard my girlfriends parents woke up, came down and beat the crap outta me. But it was worth it.
I don't see any needs to advertise beyond the occasional SCP planting. Word of mouth will eventually bring more to this site.
I found this site from another site that posted up interesting things occasionally. I've been lurking, and eventually I will set some time aside to write some SCPs.
I think the general consensus is that we are not here to be popular, and never were. We're here to create quality co-operative fiction. And anyone who is doing this to seek fame and fortune is wasting their time.
And OUR time.
No one is seeking fame. Just more people to read and contribute to this site.

Okay, I lied, I'm actually working on my first novel. But I haven't forgotten Wanderlust and I promise it will be finished eventualy, and Kondraki will be introduced by the end of Part 8.
