I really like the idea and I think you executed it quite well. Keep up the great work!
Thankyou for your comments moto moto! I really enjoyed the journey of creating this SCP, and I'm glad that it can now be shared with others.
Why do you switch between style-based redactions (███) and block character-based redactions (███)?
It was actually a practice between using the two, apparently using one to block out the other creates this pattern. Looking at it though, I can't help but appreciate the human element that it adds to the document. Thankyou for your input :)
I like it! One of the best recovery stories I've seen!
Thankyou Notluigi64! I'm glad that you enjoyed the experience. It took a long time to get everything put together just right, and I'm very pleased with the outcome.
This has some clear effort put into it and I can tell that you didn't cut corners here. I just wonder why you would have to redact information in the Special Containment Procedures as to me, almost everything in these procedures is quite important and should not be hidden away behind a redaction. Overall though, I say this is a definite +1.
I am grateful for your insight and your compliments Icerus9. I definitely understand where you're coming from with the placement of redactions. In this case, I chose to redact the locations of the SCP because in my mind, unless an agent of The Foundation is specifically sent to its location in order to assist in research or containment, it would be in better interest to not reveal its location in order to keep other organizations or people from attempting to tamper with the SCP and possibly incite an accelerated spread rate. As for names, substances, and dates, I suppose that came down more to a decision to make the reader wonder those details for themselves, add some mystery. The current containment procedures are unhindered from redactions. I am glad to see that those unavailable pieces of information did indeed get your curiosity sparked though! I encourage you to click that plus button :)
Okay, my only problem with this one is it feels like it's all middle. Every time a tab ended, it was suddenly and without any sort of big reveal, cliffhanger, or other climax. It just stopped. I thought, "Okay, maybe they're saving up the tension and mystery for a big payoff at the end." But then the android run just kinda stops, too. It's like watching a playthrough of a video game where they don't get through the whole game, they just die a few times and then quit.
Please. Give this an ending! An ending with a point. Meaning. Purpose. Don't just go four tabs and then stop.
WarpZone,
I appreciate your input. I'm glad that you enjoyed the document(s) overall. I believe that the story type format that you are looking for would be more appropriate for a tale. Research documents are not meant to be stories, neither should they be. They are documentation of the raw facts regarding what the foundation has discovered about any given anomaly. There are so many anomalous objects and artifacts within the foundation that may never be fully understood, but the point is not to make a full story for them. The point is to Secure the anomaly, contain the anomaly if possible, and ultimately, protect the rest of the world from harm caused by the anomaly. I hope that my research document will inspire you perhaps to write a tale about it. If you do, please share it with me! I would love to see other people's concepts about SCP-4086. I purposefully left much room for interpretation, the "what if" factor that allows fear to take its rightful place when considering such a thing as this.
