I dislike extended author commentary, but here it is anyway.

This started as a Christmas present for Dr Leonard, who requested "anything written." So I took a writing prompt that he left on the Bright Challenge thread, which went as follows:

The reasonably common hobby of stamp collecting stems from an anomalous compulsion in a small percentage of human beings to collect as many stamps as possible for the purpose of pleasing the long-forgotten God of Stamps, Philatea.

The aforementioned doctor received a proto-version of this as a gift. Merry Christmas, Leonard. This one is a more polished version.

Next, thanks to thedeadlymoose, djkaktus, and VAElynx for looking this over in various stages of development.

The source images are both public domain and courtesy of Wikimedia Commons. Image manipulation is my own work.

Finally, I apologize to any native Slovenian speakers for mangling your language. Anyone with corrections in this regard, please feel free to drop me a line.

As a lover of the stamps, this was right up my alley. Also, I love a God of Minor Things, and Philatea would fit in perfectly in the Discworld pantheon of worshiped ones. An enthusiastic +1 for a bittersweet and endearing tale.

Like above, it's well-written, interesting, and the concept is really neat. I'd also like to take a moment to say how happy I am that Ed the intern is becoming a thing.

My first thought was "we've already got something that creates mail". Probably a lot of somethings, really. Also,

But then you won me over with the stamp collecting appeasement ritual and, most especially, those letters. The way the little snippets of dialogue escalate as you go through that anndendum is nicely chilling. I will say I'm up in the air about the final letter, but overall, I liked it. The explanation makes it even better!

Just reached this one. Since it seems the author is gone, I took a liberty to correct Slovenian parts of the text to be in line with English transcript.
