"As you sought attention before the Administration through your misbehavior, so shall you lose the privilege of the attention of others, and he might feel a twinge of regret pierce his stomach. But then he would be whisked away to the site of his next job, and not dwell on such half-memories.
Someone forgot a " here.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
I don't get it. I get the analogies with the Foundation and such (though I don't know what SCPs are being referenced most of the time), but I don't get the story. It feels like a setup to something that never comes.
Forty-third room on the third floor… 343? Hyacinth allusion to the Dixieland Nightmare Magic canon? Hm. Definitely the most peculiar section of the piece to me.
I like the concept, but once again, having over 2 thousand skips, you decided to go into the manstream, and that's disappointing.
E: I sometimes forget to type numbers. Terrible syndrome.
Incorporating the various GoIs and the Cool War into this vision of the Foundation doesn't particularly endear me to the piece. Outside of those personal beefs, however, packing various references to well-established and well-tread pieces of site lore into a different packaging isn't doing a whole lot for me.
I also want to say that this isn't the first time I've seen "SCP High School" done on the site before. That doesn't really affect my vote as such, but it kind of heightens the sense of "okay, here's the setting, now what" that the article gives me as a reader.
Oh my god, Foundation as Hogwarts. I really, really, really should have started that anime series when I had the chance, because this blows it out of the water. D: Oh well, them's the breaks.
Due to an unauthorized experiment by the members of the Manna Club of Sacred Charity, cake will be served with all meals for the foreseeable future. Consumption of this cake is mandatory, though enjoyment, while encouraged, is not.
Seriously, this is the best thing. Write more of this! (Also, the contest entries are out? I had no idea!)
So this version of a dystopia is a very dangerous yet oddly charming school. Okay, I can dig it. But I see a whole lot of setting establishment here with no real plot. I thought you were going to go somewhere with the "Bully", but as soon as the classroom scene was over, we never hear from him again.
I'm not sure how to vote this. It's definitely not a downvote, somewhere between a no-vote and an upvote. I think I'll round up today. +1
This. Was. FUN.
Sadly, aside from that, it is not exactly a dystopia. I mean, sure, it's a nightmarish world of middle school (which is bad enough to be considered dystopic, I guess, to some people), but I simply can't see it competing with other pieces of this contest that subvert the genre, even when going into silliness territory. Not that this is played in a silly way, it isn't. It is clever.
Original? Yes, it is, particularly since I believe this takes the "SCP school" plot hybrid and turns it into a beautiful thing I'd love to upvote on itself. There is no doubt of the quality, and I genuinely enjoyed the representation of the items present here.
… as a dystopia, unfortunately, it is not what I'd see winning this contest. And yet, I'll upvote it after the contest with a smile, because it did bring a goofy smile to my face. Might be because it is a bit of a soft spot of mine, maybe… hmm? No, no I believe not. It's simple kewl, applied to a magical world, and well written.
Good job. :)
