Here it is, a rewrite of an earlier article posted by Vortex_Wakiwu (that ended up being a pretty extensive rewrite). Thanks to everybody who provided feedback in chat. Hope you like it!
the description of the thing sounds utterly ADORABLE
I like this.
I mean, true, it's got a bit of a something here and there, but really, it's cool. The critter is cool, the fact that we have no idea of where did they "come from" and/or have been all these years is cool… there is a bit of a something:
"They are big, mean… like most monsters I guess."
… excuse me? You used to seeing monsters, chief? Why hasn't the Foundation interrogated the shit out of these people? No matter who they are, if they have anomalous intel they are people of interest and have to be interviewed further, and if they don't cooperate, the Foundies would want to crack them open, then amnesticise them… or hire them at least.
Anyhow, +1.
Edit: Got it, and I understand the image issue perfectly. Kind of fitting in this article.
Thanks for the feedback!
As far as the "like most monsters I guess" thing, I meant for him to say that in an informal kind of way. Kind of like "These things are like most monsters you've heard of; big and scary". I mean, everybody pictures some basic physical characteristics when they hear the word 'monster'.
I also want to mention here (Since I didn't want to make a separate post for it) that I included the image as a nod to the original author who clearly based much of his article around it. While I know that 'artist renderings' of skips are generally not well received unless it's part of the effect, in this case I feel it's acceptable given this skip's cultural/legend status.
EDIT: Well, the image was actually in the original author's sandbox, which I had still linked in this iteration. The image is now gone, and honestly I was on the fence about it, so it's gone and I think this stands without it, or is perhaps even improved.
This reminds me of the Blair Witch Project and seemd just as scary to me. Upvoted

I like this a whole lot.
Asides from the neat creature itself, I like how it's an organic part of its surroundings, including the local culture - after all, anomalies don't magically appear ten minutes before containment, but often are a part of the local enviroment for centuries.

SCP-2056 is a bipedal humanoid, superficially resembling animals from the Primatomorpha order of mammals
SCP-2056 is a bipedal humanoid superficially resembling mammals of the Primatomorpha order.
The cell is to be guarded at all times by no less than four security personnel armed with gas-powered firearms loaded with 10mg Etorphine cartridges.
Considering that now it's malnourished and isn't even trying to escape, maybe the containment procedures should be revised
The fact that it's a dangerous object that in the past has (based on containment procedures) been violent is enough for them to keep guarding it. I don't see the Foundation as saying "It hasn't tried to escape in a while so we don't need to guard it anymore."
Edit: Also, hey, thanks for tagging this. Seriously. The tagging staffers don't get enough credit, as far as I ever see anyway.
I really like this one. You use actual scientific language that appeals to my inner biologist, but you keep it to the level where people unfamiliar with science can understand it. I don't see a real big "hook," but I feel like you can take this a bit father. I hope you do, that last addendum sets this up for some nice stories.
Also, you got me excited when you mentioned the Native Americans in this, I thought we finally got a wendigo SCP.
Thanks for the feedback! This is actually a salish tribe variation on the wendigo, but I altered it, because I think we DO have a wendigo.
Wait really? Which one? And I've heard a lot about that salish tribe, now I feel like I have to investigate them lol
SCP-2056 will also sporadically vocalize, appearing to 'sing' for minutes at a time before falling silent. The purpose of this behavior has not yet been determined, but is theorized to be in response to its extended incarceration.
;_;
I like this a lot. I heart wendigos of all kinds.
I like this SCP. What's cool about it is not only the fact that it reacts to the environment, but the fact that when it starting "singing", attacks started becoming more frequent, almost giving it a wolf in a wolf pack feeling to it, and it gives you the feeling like they're trying to look for the missing one, which I think it makes one feel a tenseness that they will eventually find the missing one.
Good job, I enjoyed it.
