I hate the Nazi Superscience trope. I hate hate hate it. Nazi technology was built off slave labor, prone to horrible malfunctions, and merely meant to solidify the Reich's power. That's not to mention their hatred of theoretical physics, to the point of outright rejecting reality.

This is my take on the Nazi Superscience trope.

translator notes

• As far as dialogue is concerned, don't be afraid to cut and remix if the emotions aren't coming through in a more literal translation. The communication logs are meant to convey feeling over information.
  • If you are gonna remix, I ask that you keep Zellweger's use of the k-slur (or equivalent in your own language) to a single instance. These are words that lose gravitas if repeated.
• A big part of this SCP is understated horror. Keep the dark bits brief yet sudden.
• I don't know if y'all have wikiwalk, but feel free to ask me if [BRANCH-SPECIFIC SCP] would make for a neat crosslink.

And a damn good thing they did, too. As ugly as WWII was, that's the one thing that could have made it worse…

(no vote yet, because I haven't read it yet — it's got several things that sets off my clinical anxiety, and I'm not in the mood tonight to deal with that. Look forward to reading it later though.)

This is a really solid piece, with good historical grounding as well as excellent character work. It would have been so easy to just make the transcripts "i hate you" "i hate you too #%&@" but you made them feel like actual people.

I was absolutely stunned when I read this in the draft phase. The description makes use of the tone to give a clear image of the destructive force delivered by the anomaly, the additional documentation give clear clues that directly tie into the last transcripts, and the transcripts are so impactful and, at some times, uncomfortable, partially due to the slur language inside it. Ultimately, this is a powerful piece and I am so pleased to see it on the mainlist.

Look Nazi technology did use slave labor to make, And I do get why people are offended, I Really Do, But Look it's something good to have in an SCP, It could be offensive i get it. But I thought were here to Help with feedback, Not say I HATE THE NAZI STUFF IN IT. Nazi technology is bad but i get it in an SCP, And I get you Are for sure more in control of me than i am you. But Im just throwing it out there.

Now For feedback. You Gotta Great SCP goin for you here, In my opinion it needs a bit more work, But other people think it's fine. Since i like the idea +1.

I think the problem is more that the trope makes it look like the Nazi's were super geniuses, rather than it just mentioning Nazis (tho if you write an article about Nazis you also gotta be careful not to offend folk, so props towards the author in that aspect aswell).

Even though the technical writing is good, when i was reading the logs, I noticed an uncanny semblance to 2721. Not in anomalies, not in dialogues but in the relationship dynamic that was twisted to a mutual hate at first¹ and partial later. This rubbed me off enough to -1.

And there's also that i don't like obskura much, but you tried to deviate it a bit to make it better.

I have mixed feelings about that one. On one hand I love both the idea and the execution, on the other I still don't think I fully get it. Is the Foundation allowing that rogue AI satellite to demolish random cities? Or are they actually redirecting David towards uninhabited areas? If so it's not stated clearly in the procedures. If not why not? It seems like a lot to cover up and they would be justified in stopping him, lethally if necessary.
