All right folks, gonna dust this one off and toss it out again:

Why would you make a good member of the Senior Staff Team?

If the answer is 'I wouldn't,' please don't bother to respond, this is us seriously wanting to know who would like to be on staff, and why.

3 issues here.

1) Karma is not an accurate representation of site activity, or a user's experience. I've seen several new users jump from zero to three bars in a week, just by rapidly editing their sandbox.

2) TheDuckman used to be DrBright, and is already an admin. You also shouldn't be giving out endorsements, like TheDuckman says in his post.

3) You are responding to an 8-month old post with a reply of little content— this is called necroposting.

As a friendly nudge, there's nothing wrong with members telling us why they should be staff themselves. It just doesn't automatically mean you'll ever be asked to be staff.

Anyway, please don't view Wikidot karma as a measure of a member's experience or seniority. It simply measures all activity across all Wikidot sites someone's a member of.

Maybe I haven't been on the site for long, but I belive I could help regulate the site to keep those who break the rules to be removed. I have been an admin on many websites, including Fandom. If it is at all possible, Mabey you could consider me?
I also try to contribute to the community, as I (tried) made 3 different SCPs, an I have been willing to help others improve other SCPs.

I would like to contribute more then just being a writer.

How do you plan on doing so, and how are you currently contributing to the site? We don't automatically promote people to moderators on the wiki (the process is Junior Staff, then Operational Staff, and then Moderator) and we don't consider people for staff based solely on a statement. If you want to be considered seriously for a draft position (keep in mind that no one here is paid for their work) you will need to demonstrate consistent staff-worthy behavior and helpfulness rather than just telling us that you're helpful.

I believe that I would make an effective member of the team as I am good at teamwork and problem solving skills. Furthermore, I am also deeply interested by the SCP topic, which can help me in understanding if specific posts are sensible or not. Moreover, I am an effective leader, to a certain extend depending on the amount of people in a team, and i confront my errors and mistakes head on and try to find a way to solve them. Can you provide an example of your demonstrating these skills on the SCP wiki? We don't recruit staff solely based on their personal description of themselves. Furthermore, which team(s) are you interested in?

Furthermore, I am also deeply interested by the SCP topic, which can help me in understanding if specific posts are sensible or not.

Knowledge of the SCP universe is not the same as knowledge of mainsite wiki policy.

I think I would be good because I’m very nice I can also chat to people and I can help spread the word about scp wiki I actually had a idea of making a scp wiki official discord group to help spread the word for all the people that are interested in the wiki or chatting easier.

Um, I guess I would be a good member for senior staff for the image team (are you talking about teams? I hope your talking about teams), because I already look for cool images that are CC compatible to put on the Visual Records wiki, I look into SCP images sometimes if I think it isn't CC compatible, and I spend a good amount of time on the Visual Records. I also think I would be good for the licensing team because I researched about CC because of the image stuff, so I have knowledge on the license and what works and what doesn't. Also, isn't it operational staff now, not senior staff?

For clarification: We used to call both the entire group of staff and specifically operational staff "Senior Staff". Now it's only a term for the entire group. (Because that was confusing.)

I think I'd make a good mod. I've always had a knack for calming people down - on and off the internet - particularly using humor, and I can break up fights easily. I'm also blunt, but not rude, in giving feedback, and only criticize someone's writing - never them as an individual. Furthermore, I'm very good with grammar/catching grammatical errors.

I think that I would be a good member of staff.

I have a few articles under my belt, and whenever I provide criticism, it's always directed at the writing and not the author. I'm good at catching grammatical errors and typos that others miss, usually fixing them pretty quickly. I also have some on-site experience in taking initiative and organizing teams (see the Prometheus Labs Hub for the GOI contest).

I'm also fairly-well known and respected on the wiki. I'm on good terms with most of the other senior staff and a lot of other members, and aside from some missteps early on in my career, have yet to have anyone get seriously angry with me. People listen to my opinions and pay attention to them. I also learn from my mistakes, listen to criticism, and try to improve continuously. I even technically pioneered a new method of in-chat critique (by copy pasting others' critique into the pertinent location of the draft so that I can read it and comprehend it at my leisure).

I think I could be a good member of the Junior Staff, to be fair. I'm pretty well known in chat, and I've provided a lot of criticism there, always pointing the flaws in the writing, and not in the author. I actually try to befriend them before giving criticism. I am also good at spotting typos, grammatical and spelling mistakes, and I can help with Italian. Not that they ask it often, but it happens.

Also, due to my location in Europe, I can be more active, alternating my non-European counterparts.

I think that I'd make a good addition to the staff team. I've been around the site for a while now, and I definitely know the in's and out's. I'm on good terms with those on the IRC chat, including other members of staff, and I uphold a neutral (if not cheery) demeanor. I am also versed in giving review, critique, and general thoughts about articles as a whole, both scip and tales; it used to be a habit of mine to post on the forum threads as much as possible, but I stay to chat most often these days. I am a great listener, and in my best place when I am able to discuss and debate with others. I'm definitely a team player.

As for my appearance on chat and the site — I think I can safely say that I am active for a good chunk of every day both on-site and in chat, especially the latter. As such, I can definitely consider myself highly active on the site and its affiliates, and remain very aware of ongoing events.

I believe that I could make a good Junior Staff member - despite not having written a successful article for the site as of this writing, I've given critique to numerous members of the site, often through the forums, and often through chat. I like to consider myself a productive member, and try to prove myself as beneficial to the community as a whole. Despite several unfortunate instances in the past (http://05command.wikidot.com/forum/t-973357/dr-leonard) I like to think that my presence on the site has helped me mature as an individual, and I consider myself to be on reasonably friendly terms with the members of #Site19.

Additionally, I am reasonably active on the site and in chat, and attempt to offer my services to other members whenever possible.

It's time I finally tossed in my hat into the play…

As a member of the site for a few years, as well as a current standing operator in #site19, I feel that I am ready for the mantle of junior operating staff.

Having been with the wiki for a while, I have been exposed to the various operations, both front-page and backside, of the wiki and of the staff operating it. My real-life experience in being an organizer and a leader can be carried easily onto the wiki, as well as my knowledge of copyright law and dealing with harassment and sensitive issues cases.

My technical knowledge in a few esoteric subjects (robotics and aviation), combined with my thoroughness of proofreading, allow for me to provide useful and thorough critique of any drafts or proto-articles brought to me. This is a boon, combined with my readily available presence in the primary chatroom and staff questioning channel.

I posted my first article back in October 2011, and have been an active reader since, beginning to write again recently. I'm highly active in chat, providing constructive feedback to new posters.

I've got extensive online community direction experience: I moderate the 90,500-subscriber /r/smashbros, which has been one of the fastest-growing communities on Reddit this year. In addition, I formerly managed unofficial Twitter feeds for two webcomics with a combined 19,000 followers. In the real world, I've been marketing director of a startup making $1 million/yr in revenue, where I managed their online communications and wrote a national TV commercial. I currently manage political campaigns as a community organizer. I've also done graphic design, video editing and audio mixing, which can best be seen on my recent Tale hub.

On staff, I'd look to:

1. Encourage new users and provide them with resources and feedback they need to grow their skills. We lose a lot of interested writers with good ideas to a sense of malaise or frustration due to their initial execution being subpar.
2. Grow the Foundation's real-world presence. I'd propose starting an email list highlighting monthly featured articles and increase the activity and reach of official social media outposts for the Foundation.
3. Work to better square our copyright status, indicating sources and disclaimers for popular articles with non-Creative Commons imagery.

I appreciate the consideration. The SCP Foundation is a high-quality tentpole of modern Internet fiction, and it's due to the strength of its leadership. I look forward to contributing to its future growth and success.

I'd like to believe that I'd make a good staff member.

I've been contributing to the site for several years now, in a wide variety of formats. I'm generally fairly active on both the forums and the chat, where I try my best to provide brainstorming help and critiques to anyone who asks. I'd like to think that I'm pretty well known among Site members, and I really, desperately hope that I've earned a good reputation. I always seek to promote a culture of professional and active help with the literary content of the site, especially fostering and encouraging new members, and I am pathologically allergic to drama in all forms.

I have significant experience in a wide variety of archival research. I also possess a technical grounding in the history of science and technology, in addition to significant experience in professional-level creative writing critiquing.

Pretty much everyone else who has posted in this thread is also an excellent choice for Staff, but I'd be honoured if I was accepted.
